All in all, Overwatch continues to feel unique regardless of how much time you spend with it, and despite the low number of available modes to participate in. I’m genuinely impressed by what Blizzard has managed to do here, and I think you will be too.

The best Hero shooter ever and the coolest competitive shooter of recent years is brought to us by a developer that has never even made a shooter before. Overwatch brings online fun for anybody, no matter how experienced or how old you are. This might be the game of the year.

It might not have the most exhaustive list of maps and modes, but it provides nearly endless opportunities for exhilarating, coordinated play. When you’re at the center of it, it feels like nothing else.

What’s incredible about Overwatch is how every single aspect of the game presented holds the same remarkably high level of detail and polish, and though the lack of progression systems and small selection of game modes may limit the experience for some in the long term, in the short to medium term, this game is nothing short of amazing.

A collection of firsts, but it carries itself with the confidence and proficiency of a veteran. It has plenty of room to grow and expand, but as our first step into this world, it's inviting, competitive, smartly designed, beautiful to look at, and fun to play. You can't ask for much more than that.

With its fun gameplay and an amazing charisma for standing out, Overwatch is the best candidate for the β€œbest competitive FPS” title this year. Blizzard has done a gorgeous job working on this title, creating a shiny box full of a deep and interesting lore, an outstanding design and tons of fun.

Blizzard and their team seem to have struck gold with a perfect combination of class based, team-centric first person shooting with their latest entry in their storied career. They show that in an era of overpriced and overwrought online only first person shooters, Overwatch stands out above the fray, to deliver a meaningful, competitive experience sure to last for years to come.

Many people have put in more - because they've had fun playing it. Got hooked on the beta. If you haven't played the beta, that's probably the only reason you don't already have the full game. In all seriousness, it does something that no other shooter on console has done successfully - created a fun, truly team based, engaging, competitive game that has a high skill ceiling with a low barrier to entry and lovable characters. On the surface it is simple, but play it for a while and you'll understand why Overwatch exceeds the hype. … Expand

The game is designed to be FUN to play and it does this so well. You'll not play a better online FPS game this year, I feel very confident saying that

Wide variety of characters, I don't remember the last time I went the same character in back to back games!

Does something which not many FPS make me want to do these days and that's play it for hours on end.
"Just one more game.....one more game....one more.....damn where have 4 hours have went"

Best game i've played this year, hands down. For me I'm marking it as a 10/10, the game does have a few slight problems (lack of modes) however 10/10 for what they have developed currently and I'm praying they have more stuff coming out over the coming months … Expand

Except for one thing, team balancing, this is what is making me get annoyed at the game the fact that I have too charge through A f**k tonne of Bastions/Torbjorn's. This is just the single most annoying feature of the game. The fact that there is no capping too how many of one character you can pick and it simply makes the game unbearable at times, absolutely nothing has been nerfed in beta, this is primarily Torbjorn's turret, the amount of strength you need too take it down (plus the 360 degree angle it turns in) is just down right stupid and it really makes it hard too play. All I need is nerf of Torbjorn and character cap limit, and then this game would be one of the best I have ever played. … Expand

I played quite a bit of the beta, and have sunk probably 50 hours into the full release. Here are my thoughts:

Pros
-Combat is very I played quite a bit of the beta, and have sunk probably 50 hours into the full release. Here are my thoughts:

Pros
-Combat is very smooth, and as far as FPSs go, it doesn't get much better.
-Characters provide a variety of different playstyles and strategies
-Setting and art style is very aesthetically pleasing
-Classes balanced fairly well

Cons
-Lack of content
-Micro-transactions (more on this later)
-Only 3 game modes at launch (competitive play will be out soon, if it's not already)

The moment to moment gameplay in here is tense, fast paced and ultimately very satisfying. Those purely interested in a competitive experience will not regret playing this game. One thing that reviews from gaming sites/publications do not address though: lack of content. My understanding is that you can get a $40 dollar version on PC, but on PS4 (and I'm assuming Xbox One) the cheapest version you can buy is $60 (that I'm aware of). For $60, you get 12 maps, and 3 game modes. Other games seem to be punished in their score for a lack of fresh content, yet this game gets a pass. I find this very troubling. I could speculate on the reasons all day, but I won't bother doing it here. Games like Destiny, and even the Division, to a lesser extent, have been derided for a lack of content, from consumers and gaming publications alike. I know its blizzards first new IP in awhile, but they should not be given a pass due to their name recognition.
Also, how they handle micro-transactions is pretty awful as well. Now, this is in no way pay-to-win. The only things you can pay for are purely cosmetic and do not affect gameplay, this is not the issue. The issue is that what you can buy for real world money is a pull of the slot machine. You get 1 loot box every time you gain a level, and in this loot box is a handful of cosmetic things (skins, voice lines, spray paints, emblems) that appear at random. It is also possible to get gold in varying sizes (by rarity) which you can then use to buy those cosmetic items that you want. My issue comes from the fact that buying these loot boxes means you are buying boxes, hoping to roll whatever it is that you desire. If you are going to charge $60 for this barebones game, paying extra should be for something you want, not a chance at something you want.

In Conclusion:
I know most of the previous paragraph makes it seem like I do not like this game, but I assure you that is not the case. Just wish there was more there for $60. Either that, or lower the price point. If you've played Team Fortress 2, you will feel right at home here, and that was bundled in the Orange box with arguably 2 of the best games in the modern era for the same price. All that being said, this game is frantic, sometimes hilarious fun, that you should definitely play if you can, just buy it on PC if you are able and save yourself 20 bucks, or wait for a price drop. … Expand

It does not have a campaign feature and the introductory modes are not that many. I have invested some hours into it; not a lot to do to be honest. No reason to play after a while apart from stylistic character changes. Not bad but not good either. Average at best. Expected something better from Blizzard. … Expand
