yes, that’s the sad part of console gaming. I don’t agree with it at all, but that’s how Sony and Microsoft have done it and I doubt it will change any time soon.
Hence I play most games on my PC. I don’t agree with having to pay for the console, the game and the option to play online and paying for the internet bill at the same time.

Overwatch asking for PS plus subscription after I started the game??

I got overwatch origins edition for ps4 about a month and a half ago.. We have one primary account which has PS plus on it and about 10 sub accounts which don't. Each person who has a sub account has been playing overwatch flawlessly since bought. Until today. I go to login and it says "You must have PlayStation Plus to access online features." Mind you, Im level 54 on overwatch and have never been asked for PS plus until now. I don't know what's happening but please help. It says it on all other accounts (which are also high level). Why didn't they say we need it at first? Why after a month?? And no my ps plus on my primary account hasnt expired. I can't find no one else with this problem so please help. And yes the account I'm playing on is a sub acc.. My brother is the primary user with the PS plus
You're asking this on the PC board, and it's been 8 months, but I'll throw something out there. You said that your brother is the primary account-holder and the one with PS+. Is it possible that he flagged a different console as his "primary" PS4? I've never messed around with it myself, but my understanding is that you can choose a particular console as your "primary" PS4, and that one enjoys the full benefits including sub accounts having access to downloaded games, etc, but I'm guessing that if a different console is set as primary, those privileges go away.

I’ve been wondering why does PS4 users need to get PS plus to play the game? It really saddens me that game costs around 60€ and you have to pay more every month to play it. PC users pay it like once and are happy.
Is it some deal from Sony that otherwise they don’t publish games or just a money maker thing? I do want to play the game but ig bugs me to play of the PS plus. OW is only thing I need it, I don’t really care about free games and stuff.
Is it a just a dream to imagine someday I wouldn’t need to pay of plus just to play OW?
That’s just a console thing. I don’t remember having to pay for it for the PS3 but on PS4 you have to pay for PS plus to play any game online. So I’m guessing it is a money thing. I used to play Dragon ball Xenoverse and The Elder Scrolls online with my brother on PS4 but eventually just got them on steam so I didn’t have to pay for PS plus anymore. Sucks, but nothing the Overwatch team can do anything about.
But is a $ony thing not Blizz’s but I agree it sucks.
Sony just doesn’t let you really use the internet at all without having PS Plus. It’s just a way to steal money from you basically.
Thats because Sony doesnt care about you, just money. All online services have this happen, where you have to pay for PS+ to use online. Its not a decision Blizzard made. If you dont like it, dont pay for it and switch to PC.
Well we get to make all the free smurfs we want so it balances out.

I guess there is only one option then. Buy it to PC because I will save more money by doing that.
Even the switch is doing it. Though theirs is going to be pretty cheap by comparison and put more into the package. I wish consoles would get rid of the subscription to use internet though. I would honestly keep paying for gold just for the free games and sales.

Small nitpick but Free to play games like Neverwinter, Warframe, Fortnite: Battle Royale do not require the PS+ subscription. I get that Sony does want the money but there are ways to play online without the sub.

Yeah I only recently got my PS4 and before I got PS+ I was happy to see that I could still play PlanetSide 2/neverwinter still. Not sure if this is a new(ish) updated but still worth looking into.

I have to imagine the money is going into improving Sony’s online infrastructure, which I don’t mind. Also the free games are more than worth 60 dollars in my opinion. I basically have a huge backlog of PS games to play thanks to PS+ monthly free giveaways.

You get a lot with PS Plus. Yeah it’s more money but I feel I’m getting it’s worth with all the features it gives. I also was able to play OW during the maintenance on the PSN so there was no down time.

Weird my WoW account got hacked more than my PS4 account has been hacked but hey there’s a year to go.
