I would pay for a new mode with new maps, a campaign with some exclusive skins.
An expansion should include a story mode and PvE horde modes.
Accompanied by new skins and voice lines.
All PvP content such as heroes, maps and modes should remain free. Even greedlords at EA finally realized this.
But i will gladly pay for PvE content like SP/coop story campaign.
i would 100% be willing to pay for a full campaign, all my thoughts above.
this is a sure fire way of killing the game.
I’d never pay for an expansion to a game that doesn’t need one. For all the time and effort OW devs would need to invest to make this expansion they could just as easily integrate all of that new content into their already existing game.
If it was a good campaign, with dialogue, lore and cutscenes 2+ hours long, playable with friends / matchmade teams yes. But a longer version of the blackwatch event? No. That was amazing for free content but not for paid DLC.
either a campaign mode thats multiplayer,a netflix series that isnt one ep every two years or four eps every year, Literally 20 eps per season, or more good game modes that are not unbalanced/cant be balanced.

Whatever is their next move, it shouldn’t be an overwatch 2.

I personally would like a massive multiplayer FPS in Starcraft universe, but it is just me (playing Zerg or Protoss in FPS… a dream come true!)

Blizzard is capable of telling an in-game story, the Overwatch Archives are prime example, especially Retribution. With the lack of Overwatch animated shorts and even web comics people want to know more about their favourite heros. Give us good campaign stories to play out on how our favourite heroes became and at the end of campaign reward a skin that we could use during the matches. Play higher difficulties of the campaign reward cooler skins.
Any fully cost expansion would require a 20 hour campaign mode, for all characters. To purchase it. If it’s just 40 stupid skins and or PVP content. Or worse, content that’s time gated. I will not buy that garbage. A physical set should also include the comics printed out. And a bluray of the current cinematics.

so pve content like the story mode they had out for the special skins?
Some kind of PVE mode to develop the story in game further (it has been ignored totally lately), character interactions updated to that said story, skin and weapon customizations (some options and colours)… And on top of that, the character voices for different skins. Like Reyes voice for Reyes Reaper-skin, Blackwatch interactions for Blackwatch Genji and complete voiceover for young Ana skins.
Please no,a paid expansion would just be greedy.
World of Warcraft was released on November 23rd, 2004, and its first expansion, The Burning Crusade was released January 15th 2007, 2 years, one month, and 23 days for the first expansion to come out. Overwatch was released on May 24, 2016, 2 years 1 month and 23 days from today. An expansion would help by bringing new content and new features just like Burning crusade did for Warcraft. If Blizzard wants Overwatch to remain a success then they must learn from other successful games of theirs.

Overwatch League Season Two starts on February 14, and now team skins for the eight new expansion teams are available in-game.
The expansion teams were announced just after Season One, and each team eventually revealed what they would look like and gave a preview of their in-game skins to fans.
With eight new expansion teams, and 29 heroes in Overwatch, that means there are 232 new skins now available to players.
One of the most popular new team skins is already the Hangzhou Spark’s pink Reaper, which caused a stir when it was first revealed back in November.
Like all Overwatch League skins, the new expansion team’s are available for 100 OWL Tokens each, which can be bought with money, or earned from watching Overwatch League matches.
Since there haven’t been any OWL matches for the last few months, players will have to dip into their savings, if they have any, or patiently wait until Season Two begins on February 14, if they don’t want to spend real cash.
Overwatch is also giving fans the chance to earn a new Ana skin with the Bastet Challenge, which runs until January 28, so technically there are 233 new skins available for players.
In addition to all the new cosmetics, Blizzard put a new PTR patch out on Monday, January 7 that nerfs D.Va, Brigitte, and gives Reaper a serious buff.
One artistically talented Overwatch fan has rendered and animated a brand-new ability for Echo based on early Blizzard concept art for the hero.
Echo was the last new hero to be introduced until Overwatch 2, and she’s definitely popular thanks to the massive amount of firepower she’s packing.
Not satisfied with her current loadout though, 3D animator and Overwatch fan @Jupiiit decided to flesh out the idea from early Blizzard ideas that had her using her two back wings like boomerangs.
There apparently were a few abilities that used the Omnic’s wings as projectiles, that would return after they went out and dealt damage. The downside of them just being on paper though is we’ve never got to see them in action, until now.
Jupit posted a super-clean animation on January 31 that shows a first-person perspective of Echo throwing out her wings as boomerangs then returning to her, dealing damage along the way.
If Echo’s wings had been given more functionality with a damage ability, it wouldn’t be hard to see it looking pretty similar to this. Maybe to keep it from being OP the comeback damage would only happen if enemies are in a certain range between Echo and the initial target.
How much damage they would or should do is also up for debate, but there’s no denying it would be a completely unique move in Overwatch.

Also, there’s nothing to say we couldn’t see Echo get something like this when Overwatch 2 comes out, which will have new and upgradeable moves for every hero.
As an added bonus, if it were in the sequel’s new PvE mode, it wouldn’t need to be as tightly balanced as it would if it were put in for PvP, since we’d be fighting NPCs and not other players.
Overwatch fans have clearly begun taking new content matters into their own hands, which is understandable with no real updates or news on Overwatch 2 since it was announced in 2019. Thankfully BlizzCon 2021 is right on the horizon, and the promise of the big sequel news we’ve all been waiting for.
