I am a gamer, but much less so since having children. Starcraft and Halo and Baldur's Gate/Bioware Studios games were my favorites. This game was brought to my attention by my hip 10 year old. "Oh Mama, you'd love this game. All the coolest characters are GIRLS". That bit of coolness aside, he invited me to 'try' this for a round, and after I kept asking him for one more round he announced he was going to go play something else since his mother was clearly not giving up her rare gameplay. This game is FUN. I won't go into the mechanics that another reviewer or 20 can better explain, but this 40+ mama thoroughly enjoyed the quick gameplay (you really can just sit and do one round), the variety of different characters to choose from, the strategic choices of which character to play based on your 'team' shortcomings, the low graphical violence, the intense graphics; all around an great addition to the rich FPS field with multi-player gameplay.

If you like fast paced team games than this might be the perfect game for you and you don't need to be a master at the first person shooter to jump in. Overwatch is fantastic and is not solely for those that are out to get the most amount of kills, but for those that want to help their team achieve their goals and claim victory over the competition. This game is perfect for veterans of the first person shooter and those who are jumping into the genre for the first time. Overwatch is a six player versus six player team first person shooter. You work with your team to either capture a point, a very king of the hill mode, or push a payload where you and your team try to get an object all the way inside the opposing team's base. You also get the ability to pick between 23 unique characters that all serve different purpose for the team. You can play as characters that are designed to take out opponents and make it easier for your team to progress, or you can play as a support character that helps heal your teammates that have been injured in battle, or you could play as a defense character to protect your territory and allies while they press forward on an objective and the list goes on. Every member of team is vital and it never feels like your not contributing to achieving a win. There are a multitude of ways to enjoy this game too, if you are just looking for a casual fun time then you have the option between arcade mode and quick play mode. Quick play is everything mentioned above with less stress as no matter what you'll always end up earning points for yourself and never have to worry about the rest of your teammates losing points from their total score. However, there is a competition mode where you compete with other teams in a mad brawl to see which teams are better and the competition can get incredibly fierce and communication become an important part of winning a game. There are some things to keep in mind before putting down the cash for Overwatch, these revolve more around the specs of your PC and extra devices. Overwatch does not take a very powerful PC to run, it will absolutely look gorgeous the more powerful your computer is but it is not necessary for you to get the full experience out of the game and compete with everyone else. A stable internet speed is desired too; because you don't want to be randomly falling out of matches or lagging when trying to assist teammates in battles. Finally a microphone is not necessary as you can talk to users using the keyboard, but if you are thinking about getting into the competitive scene than a headset and microphone will help excel your odds for success. I implore you to look into this game, it is gorgeous to look at, easy to pick up and caters to some many different types of players that it would be hard to not find something to love about the game. This is a game that is absolutely astounding.

Product: Overwatch is an arena First Person Shooter put out by Blizzard Games. Developer: Blizzard entertainment is a well known, well respected software developer that has released games such as World of Warcraft, Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo, and Heroes of the Storm. Pros: The game itself is quite possibly the best competitive FPS that I have ever played. * Heros are relatively easy to understand and intuitive to play. Abilities have a short cool down and can be used in a multitude of ways without bogging the player down with a huge hotbar. * The game itself is a visually beautiful AAA game. *The game possesses a great deal of unlocks from Character poses, spoken dialogue, character skins, to spray tags making replay worthwhile by providing some measure of progress for the player. *Games are easy to pick up with Quick Play option, but also allows for a multitude of different game styles ranging from large pvp to small 3v3 and 1v1 games. Cons: * With any online game, the community can at times be toxic. Although in my experience the vast majority of players are just there to have fun and enjoy the game, your mileage may vary. * Micro Transaction's exist within the game. They aren't necessary if you are willing to wait. Overall, this is a game worth buying if you are interested in online competitive FPS's.

I love this game and all that Blizzard does in effort to keep improving it. We've already gotten two new maps and 2 new characters since the release of the game. One of these characters became one of my new mains, and I just cannot stop playing the most recent new map. Kudos, Blizzard! However, several things do bog it down inevitably: - Toxic behavior of internet gamers. Trolls exist to make your life miserable -- that is, if you pay them any mind. - ELO hell that will drive you insane. This is a game where players know no humbleness -- if they are bad, they will still be playing competitive. You will encounter teammates in your rank where you will wonder how they ever got there: no team work, horrible team composition, terrible logic, no communication, or only communication when they want to yell at you. But it doesn't matter because you'll be dropping in rank, with them. - People complain and complain and complain until Blizzard "fixes" things -- which could result in breaking them. Symmetra was a weak character, but now she has officially broken the "No Limits" game mode where you could end up playing against 6 Symmetras defending and you will never break through. Or the fact that Hog's hook will "break" now if you hit someone who is dancing around a corner, completely contradictory of the original "favor the shooter's positioning and not the runner's lag" philosophy that the game was first built on.

Didn't make me motion sick!

Overwatch is an amazing game. I won't go into the specifics of the game because you can find that information anywhere online. I was very reluctant to pick it up at first because I get motion sick very easily in FPS games (or any game with first person POV). I decided to go for it during the Christmas sale 2016, and it turns out for some reason I don't really get motion sick from it! Disclaimer: There are certain heroes that will cause me to feel motion sick, but it's a lot better than other games. I bought the Origins edition for my sister when it was on sale. It came with a bunch of codes but honestly we just wanted the game. I would definitely recommend buying the game when it's on sale (which is pretty often) through Blizzard.
