How well can you run Overwatch on a GTX 1080-Ti @ 720p, 1080p or 1440p on low, medium, high or max settings? This data is noisy because framerates depend on several factors but the averages can be used as a reasonable guide.

I have a 1440p monitor, but I am looking at 1080p, what the pros settings are, and how I can only assume 1080p might make things a little “bigger”.
Opinions between the two? I still have max frames/fluidity.
Mostly because I don’t care about how crisp things look when they’re a foot away from my face.
OW is the only “competitive” game I play, everything else is RDO, Anthem, ESO, Star Citizen… Stuff where fidelity matters to me. But now I am wondering if 1080p is actually easier to play on.
Pros play at like 1080p with minimum graphics to reduce input latency and maximize framerate.
I have max frame rate, I do play on the lowest settings avail, just not resolution… I’m fairly sure my latency is non-existent. I have a solid monitor, too.
if you have a 2k monitor play on 2k resolution, if you have 1080p one play on 1080p
if your question is if there is any difference between 1080p or 2k, nothing really. Higher resolution means crisper image the bigger your monitor is
so if you go with 27’ 1080p the pixels are grainy in comparison to 2k
is there advantage for 1080p over 2k if both are 1ms panels with 200+fps?
Depends on hertz (refresh rate). If the 1440p is 144 hz then use that one. However, if the 1080p is 240 hz or higher, use that one. Refresh rate makes a lot of difference.
For some reason, I had wondered if 1080p would actually make the image a little larger, akin to lowering the resolution on your desktop. The idea I had was, would it make people’s heads a little bigger?! lol
Resolution doesn’t matter. Refresh rate is the most important.
I play in 1440p with 200+FPS and imho if the PC can handle it with good framerates, there’s no reason to go below the monitor’s native resolution because it’s just gonna look like crap.
1080p is the most popular because it’s still the norm and smooth performance is a much more important factor that resolution and is cheaper to achieve compared to anything higher. Besides cost, 1080p has no advantage over 1440p as long as the performance doesn’t suffer.
1440p isn’t an advantage over 1080p either. It just looks a little more crisp.
I can only assume 1080p might make things a little “bigger”.
As far as I know things won’t appear bigger unless you change the aspect ratio so that the picture has to stretch to fit the screen.
