My buddy Ron and I took two Jeeps to Jarbidge and stayed at the Outdoor Inn. It was quaint, no internet or television, which was a plus to us. We also took our mountain bikes. We honestly had the best time. Jace and Jane are the perfect host and hostess, the bar is unbelievably stocked, the food excellent and the ambiance exactly what one would expect in a town that has no paved roads. If you are looking for an out-of- the-way place to relax and get back to basics, this is the place. We already have our reservations for October 2022, but will most likely be there sooner.

We stayed down the road at the lovely Tsawhawbitts B&B, but the word from other guests is that it is great place - it was all booked afterall. We ventured down the street to the Outdoor Inn in lively downtown Jarbidge for supper and socializing. I will tell you, Mr. Jace Stegall smokes a mighty fine tri-tip and the family style fixings buffet is awesome and a quality value. After dinner we popped over to the bar and watched BSU football on a big screen, placed some 7s on the siot, partook in some dancing, karoake, and frosty beverage. Afterwards we had a pleasant ramble home down Main Street in the moonlight. Though I don't think they have a DJ everynight, we got real lucky. There is almost any canned beer or bottle you can dream of is available as well as spirits. Go across the street to the Red Dog for a whiskey while you're at it. I highly recommend the Outdoor Inn, come in ready to have a good time, and you certainly will! โ€ฆ

Let me preface this by saying this place is in the middle of nowhere where the only roads are dirt roads and they are a good 40+ miles from any other civilization, so while this place isn't the Ritz, for where it is I consider it a 4 star establishment. The rooms are outdated but they are clean and everything you need after adventuring out in the Nevada wilderness all day. The night cook left something to be desired of dinner but the homemade pies are definitely a must for dessert! And the morning cook for breakfast is spot on (talk about a delicious home cooked biscuits and gravy!) I'm hoping we can make another trip out to this tiny oasis town and stay here again!

Everyone from the big city should see how things are done in a small town like this. We picked the location because it fitted our 2 week dirt bike trip. Americana at it's best! Check my photos, as mere words cannot describe this place!

This restaurant and bar, the adjacent hotel, and some other businesses are run by "Jace", a third-generation resident, and his English wife. Before we rode our motorcycles to Jarbidge in late spring, Jace was our generous source for road information and routing advice. He also asked us if we had a special beer request; he knows that business well. But I was just as happy to nurse a Bud Light with the locals in the cozy bar. Attention to detail in the restaurant and the hotel was exceptional. Plenty of instant hot water, but there is no internet of cell service in this neck of the woods. I hope to visit again in aspen season.

(I am writing this review based on my stop at the saloon & cafe. I have not yet stayed at the inn.) I found Jarbidge in general, to be a great little place to stop and get refreshed. This is an inhabited mining camp, established in the early 20th century. People who are backcountry savvy will find Jarbidge to be an oasis of awesome, away from the typical touristy b.s. -- With that in mind, Jarbidge is NOT for everyone! And I mean that sincerely. I have read other posts, and people need to know why and what they are coming out here to experience. This is NOT a "tourist" destination. It is an adventurer's destination! You will not find the usual 'cheese' here for your 'whine' -- There are creature comforts for those of us on the trail, but softer urbanite-types will not find Jarbidge 'soft-enough' and will usually find complaints in the lack of this or that, or the local ways of handling things. This is part of the uniqueness of coming here! It's NOT downtown Boise, it's NOT Twin Falls, or Salt Lake, and certainly NOT CALIFORNIA! This was, is, and hopefully always will be a rustic, gritty mining camp! People have made it quasi-modern to the point to where the 'charm' has NOT yet been compromised. I LOVE IT! There should be a sense of remoteness, lowliness, & isolation, and with that comes tranquility, peace, and calm --- which should be your reasons for coming to Jarbidge. With that caveat established - enjoy the restaurant, bars, shops and quaint lodging. Stop, and take your time to introduce yourself to the people who are living & working there -- people DO warm up to you, as soon as you establish the fact you are a good person, and not the type that is bitchy, rude or demanding -- it isn't the city, and you aren't late for a meeting! Get to know people and slow your pace just a bit and you will have an amazing time! (This works across rural America, by the way -- Just sayin') Most, if not all, people in Jarbidge are really pretty cool! There is an AUTOMATED gas station there that will require a credit card to operate. Use 'rural common sense' and use a commonly accepted REAL credit card, not a bank debit card, American Express, Discover or Diner's Club. Sometimes the system will only connect to the basic VISA / MASTERCARD services... via landline phone... so plan ahead! Get gas here, you may need it! --- BASIC RULES OF THE DESERT... ALWAYS GET GAS WHEN IT'S AVAILABLE --ALWAYS CARRY PLENTY OF WATER!! Enjoy coming here and do your part to keep it friendly, welcoming, and open! SHOW MUCH LOVE!! โ€ฆ

We planned to have dinner in town one night, but had such a great experience at the Outdoor Inn we went both nights. It's old west meets southern hospitality! I've never spent this little time in a place where leaving I know people in the the town by name. Can't wait to go again! Thanks for letting us 'go to the wild west show' :)

I came here on the recommendation of friends. I met the new owner who went out of his way to show me around, explain the menu and include some of Jarbidge's history. I had a delicious steak dinner with all the trimmings, topped it off with MAPLE BACON ice cream, and went over to the bar where I met some of the local residents who couldn't have been nicer. The bartenders, Laura and Robin were personable, humorous and told me some local history along with recommendations of what to see and do. And before the evening was up I'd met folks from Pennsylvania, California, Arizona and even England! Ron, the proprietor of the town's only Taxi service was also very helpful. I plan to return to Jarbidge as soon as I can. The Outdoor Inn was a highlight of my trip and I can't wait to visit again! โ€ฆ

This is about the only place to eat in Jarbidge. We stopped for lunch after a LONG drive to reach this town. The service was friendly, but not very fast. Server did not know much about the menu. Each time we asked about an item, he had to go ask the cook in the kitchen. Food was fine, but nothing special. I would eat here again, but only because it is the only restaurant in Jarbidge.

It's a pretty darn good place to eat and socialize.. I even cooked there, just to help out. Bring your family and friends, your 4wheelers and razors.. Come and have some fun. Oh, by all means don't forget your Common Sense.. extra water, gas, spare tire and instructions on how to use them..
