Washington’s best outfitter welcomes you to your next outdoor adventure. We exist to provide trainings, environments, experiences, and resources that lead people, especially youth, in exploring the outdoors.
Family-friendly river float trips are a great way to enjoy a beginner level rafting half-day activity with your family (perfect for families with young adventurers and/or adults who prefer a mild ride!). Join us on a class I-III river section.
Embark on a whitewater rafting roller coaster ride on 5 miles of the North Fork of the Skykomish River, through the beautiful Wild Sky Wilderness.
Join us for a fun and memorable 3 hour sea kayak tour on beautiful Lopez Island! This paddling opportunity is ideal for your family vacation, girls day out, corporate retreat, church activity, school group, anniversary, or just because!
You’ll be outfitted with an inflatable kayak for a hands-on (i.e. wet!) class that includes basic instruction of skills and maneuvers along with considerable on-water practice time.
The Outdoor Adventures family is an experienced group of guides, instructors, support staff, and interns. We are adventurers at heart, with the skills and experiences necessary to take you on the best, safest, and most memorable adventures.

The water was running at record lows so we did a different stretch than normal on the Skykomish which allowed most all of us to use inflatable kayaks which were super fun. Any currently enrolled student or faculty/staff paying the Campus Recreation fee will
receive a 25% discount to the listed prices.
We have a set number of oar frames and dry boxes for our rafts. So we don’t rent out
oar frame equipment separately.
Our trips are only open to current students, faculty, and staff at the University
of Utah and their guests. See the schedule for this semester's trips,
Call us at 801-581-8516 and pay the deposit with a credit card over the phone, or
come to see us during our office hours within the Student Life Center .
Cooperative Adventure trips are planned and coordinated by Outdoor Adventures trip
leaders. Trip costs are shared equally by all participants. All group planning, leadership
and risks are shared by all participants equally. Because Outdoor Adventures trips
are exciting, physically demanding, and take place in an environment over which we
have no control, they can be potentially dangerous. As a participant on a Cooperative
Adventure Trip, you must personally accept these conditions and assume full responsibility
for your own safety and well-being. Trip size is limited, and registration plus payment
is on a first come, first served basis. A non-refundable deposit is required when
you sign up to secure a spot for you. Each multi-day trip has a pre-trip meeting,
and your attendance is strongly recommended .

Yes, we want to help everyone enjoy the outdoors. Please see our equipment rental page for current options and rates.
For most items, reservations are accepted the “week of” the rental period. Call us
the Monday prior to your adventure and we'll be happy to get you the gear you need.
Exceptions: rafts and bikes can be reserved starting the last Monday of March for
anytime during the season until November.
If equipment is damaged upon return, you will be responsible for repair or replacement.
If you’re not able to get your equipment back to us on time, please call ahead and
pay for an additional day. If you fail to return your equipment on time, you will
be charged an additional day plus a late fee.
These guidelines will help you select the best level of activity based on your fitness
comfort level. Please contact OA if you have any questions.
University of Utah policies prohibit alcohol, controlled substances, and firearms.
These items are not permitted on any OA Adventure.
Participants are not required to have health insurance, but it is strongly encouraged.
