Despite the poorly written product description, I like this Mora alot. The very first thing I did after receiving it was to try some light batoning and although it performed OK, it is not a serious knife for that purpose as it has a very pronounced distal taper beginning at mid point of the blade which becomes quite thin as it nears the tip. As for chopping, this just doesn't have the weight or length for that task by any means. Why did I give it 5 stars? Quite frankly, it feels great in my medium sized hands, the feel and grip is one of the best I have felt in my 60 plus years of using and collecting edged tools. The edge is sharp and easy to maintain, the blade is suitable for most camping/field chores and it's light weight and nicely made sheath makes it a pleasure to carry. Feather sticks and food prep are a breeze to accomplish and this knife has enough Belly in the blade for dressing out both large and small game. Striking a ferro rod is not possible with the finished spine of this knife so it will either need a slight mod or you could simply use a piece of hacksaw blade or (my favorite) carry a piece of Flint to use as a striker. I believe that this Mora coupled with a good camping hatchet or (another favorite) a Tramontina 12" Machete would be a winning combination for your fieldcraft/survival needs. Sometimes a knife simply feels like an extension of your hand and in my case, this knife does just that.

This is my fourth Morakniv. Like all the rest it is sharp, well made and inexpensive. The blade is ground in the same style as the more expensive ( but still well priced ) Kansbol model by Mora. The grip is hand filling and comfortable. If you go on You Tube, you will find several videos that compare the Kansbol vs the much more expensive Garsberg. Since the Kansbol has the same blade as the Outdoor 2000 I think it is safe to infer that this knife should fair just as well. The only reason.I did not give the knife five stars is the sheath. Unlike many other Mora models, the sheath is not one piece of heavy duty plastic. It has a body of plastic and a belt loop of synthetic leather that is riveted to the body of the sheath. Where the other Mora sheaths can be worn without undoing your belt, this one can not. A small thing but, still an irritation. I highly recommend Mora. You can't do better for the money.

I bought this knife 6 years ago. initially the only thing that bothered me was the hard plastic sheath fit loose on the knife and it would rattle inside, and had a potential to fall out. I fixed that though, i took a propane torch and carefully heated a spot near the top edge, just below the smooth border in the center when it became soft, I pressed it to push it inward and then slid the knife in, effectively creating a friction fit and ever since it just pops in place and has never fallen out. I never wear it on a belt, but rather carry it in a side pocket on the leg of my pants, it is always handy there. as for cutting ability, it is great for all reasonable tasks for a knife of this type. When it becomes dull i take it to my 3 stone Arkansas set, and in a matter of a little time it is back to an effective and sharp blade again. the blade has never bent or corroded. It does have a patina of scuffs and scrapes from its lifetime of service. I have never thought to chop down a tree or split shingles or firewood with it, i have axe for that haha. for the price, you really cannot go wrong! I am well pleased, and actually am thinking of buying one to give as a gift.

Very Nice Blade for the price. The handle is well manufactured as well. My one gripe would be the way this weapon is weighted, or rather the lack of weight. A survival knife of sorts, any bushcraft blade has to sit on the belt and with this cheap holster and lack of weight, this blade slips out often... Sometimes it stays in the holster and sometimes not, you will not necessarily know if the latter situation occurs. Everything else about this knife is fantastic. The blade is gorgeous, with a great cutting surface, and the handle is actually quite solid...again with a little more weightiness this knife would feel more substantial and probably function better. If you throw a knife in a straight line and watch if it can maintain the line in flight, or if it jumps around, you can see the weight distribution of the knife and a good distribution should maintain a somewhat straight line. That is where this knife lacks a bit imo. The Swedish design appears to take elements of a Scottish Dirk with the handle and a steamlined, balanced blade. One can see by the shine, sharpness and shape of the blade that it is quality work. I recommend the blade but, be careful! its easy to lose this knife, you won't feel it in your pocket and you won't know if the holster dumps it.

This knife is clearly a high quality knife for a reasonable price. I probably would have given it 4 1/2 stars because it cost a third more than my Mora Companion, but doesn't appear at first to be a third more knife. Maybe I will feel differently after using it tho', because it is truly the sharpest knife out of the box I've ever gotten - CAREFUL! - you could easily slice your finger open just running it over this knife's edge! It fits snugly and securely into the sheath turned either direction, which is a plus. If you're ok with spending $30+ on a great knife, I say buy one for yourself!

Style: Olive Green Verified Purchase

The blade is the same style as the Kansbol but this blade is polished to a high mirror shine unlike the brushed stainless of the Kansbol. The spine is rounded so it is not adequate for a fire steel unless you file or grind a portion or all of the spine flat. The handle is extremely comfortable but it does not have a lanyard hole if that is important to you. The sheath is not one of Mora’s best designs but it works. This knife is multifunctional but really shines with camp food prep since the blade is easy to clean and sanitize.

Bello e pratico

Style: Olive Green Verified Purchase

In ottimo acciaio inox Sandvik 12C27 indurito a 57/58 hrc e lucidato (lama lunga 109 mm e spessa 2,5 mm).

Style: Olive Green Verified Purchase

Style: Olive Green Verified Purchase
