Gerdek İbn Butlan'ın İtalyancaya "Tacuinum Sanitatis" olarak çevrilen kitabı "Takvim es-sıhha"'nın İtalyanca bir baskısında gerdek gecesini resmeden görsel. Gerdeğe girmek veya zifaf, gelin ile damadın evlendikten sonraki ilk cinsel ilişkilerini tanımlar. Bu ilişkinin gerçekleştiği gece ise gerdek gecesi olarak bilinir.
