The Institute is specialized in development and improvement of existing biotechnological medicines, designing modern methods of laboratory diagnostics of pathogens and infectious diseases of animals, and maintenance and storage of biological materials.
For the present time the Institute is the single veterinary biotechnology institution performing registration trials of veterinary immunobiological preparations and state control of their quality.
Reference Laboratory of Office International des Epizooties (OIE) for rabies and National Center for Strains of Microorganisms of Ukraine are also operating on the territory of State Scientific Control Institute.

The equipment of the laboratory permits to work with all especially dangerous infections and pathogens, including West Nile Fever, Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever, Lassa fever, Ebola, Marburg, Zika and Dengue Viruses, Yellow Fever, tularemia, plague, cholera, etc. Cultures and other dangerous pathogens are stored frozen in the laboratory's storages.
