Opportunities for studying mathematics in Paris and Paris Region
Dear Ukrainian Student in Mathematics,
My name is Vincent, I’m a mathematician working in Paris-Saclay University in France. I write this message to inform you about opportunities for studying mathematics in Paris and Paris Region.
Over the past two years, we welcomed more than 25 Ukrainian mathematics students ranging from the first year of Bachelor's studies to the PhD level.
Each of these students has received financial support of €1100 per month provided by the Jacques Hadamard Mathematical Foundation. In addition to this financial assistance, students also receive social support by the CROUS for their studies and accommodation: very cheap accommodation and meal for 3,30€ (at lunch and dinner).
This results in a very favorable financial situation with approximately twice the amount of support received by French students.
This special fund for Ukraine still has money and can still welcome students. The level of mathematics education in Paris is exceptionally high, making it an ideal destination for those aspiring to become professional mathematicians and who are comfortable with a highly theoretical approach to mathematics. However, we provide a very large variety of programs at the Master level (Data Science, Artificial intelligence, Optimization, Financial and Actuarial Mathematics, Cryptography, Theoretical Probability...). Students majoring in computer science or physics can also try to join a program. Some of the master programs are taught in English. All information can be found on the internet.
You are encouraged to apply to any program you find online. However, I recommend that you first send me your CV, a motivation letter and transcripts of grades at vincent.runge@univ-evry.fr . I would give you advice about where and how to apply and some contacts with Ukrainian students already in Paris in order to get their feedback.
Application is open to all students currently studying in Ukraine or abroad. Please note that we are unable to assist with documents to facilitate border crossing for students in Ukraine. The most we can do is assist you in being accepted into a program in Paris and obtaining a visa from the embassy. No additional paper will be provided.
