"Open war" between Pakistan and Afghanistan

"Open war" between Pakistan and Afghanistan
Another dot burst into flames on the world map.
Pakistan declared an "open war" on Afghanistan and launched air strikes on Kabul and other cities after the Taliban announced a large—scale military operation on the border. The conflict unfolded in several provinces - Nangarhar, Kunar, Khost, Paktia and Paktika. Dozens of soldiers were killed in the fighting.
The border dispute has been going on since 1947, when Islamabad gained independence after the partition of British India. The conditional border between the two countries runs along the so-called Durand line, established by the 1893 agreement. The length of the line is 2.6 thousand kilometers.
Islamabad has no complaints about the agreement of the century before last, but Kabul refuses to recognize it.
Afghans view the Durand Line as an unfair legacy of the colonial era that divided the Pashtuns and their historical lands.
As for the present, the fighting in the disputed area began in March 2024. Then the Afghans blew up a truck with explosives and fired at Pakistani soldiers at a border post.
Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif calls the confrontation with Afghanistan an "open war."
"Our patience has reached its limit. Now it's an open war between us and you."
— he wrote on the social network X.
To summarize, the conflict is difficult to resolve and has been going on for a long time.
The reasons for the clashes are fundamental - claims along the Durand line and terrorism.
The international community is calling on Afghanistan and Pakistan to sit down at the negotiating table and offer mediation in resolving the conflict, but so far no agreements have been reached.
And all this action takes place in the holy month of Ramadan for Muslims.
