Final Round of the 74th Singapore Open Amateur Championship (SOAC) has ended.
India’s Yash Majmudar emerges as Men’s champion after a dramatic three-way playoff with Weerawish Narkprachar from Thailand and Isaac Lam from Hong Kong. Yash had a two-shot lead heading into the 72nd hole but unfortunately made a double bogey to enter a sudden death playoff, where he eventually made par to win the tournament.
Yash mentioned “It feels really good to win in a field with the best players from around the region. It feels great to pull it off.”
With this win, Yash has also earned a spot to compete at the International Series Singapore 2022 from 11 to 14 August at Tanah Merah Country Club.
In the women’s division, Mirabel Ting from Malaysia made it a wire-to-wire victory after recording her fourth consecutive sub-par round. Mirabel finished at eleven under par for the week, 16 shots ahead of Singapore’s Hailey Loh who finished in second place. Mirabel was grateful to her supporters “I would like to thank Malaysia Golf Association, my parents and supporters for their belief in me.”
Congratulations to all winners and we look forward to welcoming you at our next event!
After round 3 of the 74th Singapore Open Amateur Championship (SOAC), Malaysia’s Mirabel Ting extends her lead in the women’s division after firing an excellent round of 67 (-5). She is now ten-under for the three rounds, nine shots ahead of Singapore’s Hailey Loh who shot 70 (-2) today.
Thailand’s Sahasawat Ariyachatvakin regains his outright lead after recording 73 (+1) today, to lie at even par after three rounds. He has a slim one-shot lead over India’s Yash Majmudar who is at one-over after 3 rounds. Australia’s Franklin Lydra shot an excellent 67 (-5) today to move up to tied 3rd position, along with Isaac Lam from Hong Kong and Aryan Roopa Anand from India.
Ariyachatvakin mentioned that the conditions of the course for Round 3 were tricky. “I’m kind of happy with a one-over today,” he expressed as he reflected his round.
We would like to wish the best of luck to all players as we look forward to an exciting final round tomorrow!
Round 2 of the 74th Singapore Open Amateur Championship (SOAC) is in the books.
There is a three-way tie for the lead in the men’s division. Sahasawat Ariyachatvakin, Brayden Lee and Aryan Roopa Anand are all tied at -1 after two rounds.
“I felt that I hit my drivers and woods pretty well today and found most of the fairways,” expressed Brayden on what he did which led him to a score of 71 (-1).
In the ladies’ division, Malaysia’s Mirabel Ting takes the outright lead after firing a four-under 68 in round 2. She is six shots ahead of Singapore’s Hailey Loh who shot a one-under 71 today.
When we asked Mirabel on how she aims to maintain the lead, she replied, “I would say just do my best, and not worry too much about the score.”
All the best to all players for the third round tomorrow!
The 74th Singapore Open Amateur Championship (SOAC) is held once again at Tanah Merah Country Club, Tampines Course with a total of 110 participants from 18 countries.
In the men’s division, Thailand’s Sahasawat Ariyachatvakin fired a spectacular six-under 66 to take a five-shot lead over Philippine’s Gabriel Manotoc and Malaysia’s Anson Yeo who both shot 71 (-1).
“It’s a great round, l made a lot of putts today, I think the key is l had a good tee shot and I rolled the ball pretty good,” said Ariyachatvakin. “My expectation for this week is to try to stay in my game and keep the ball in play I’m not thinking about the result that much and try to think shot by shot.”
Singapore’s Inez Ng and Malaysia’s Mirabel Ting shot 71 (-1) to co-lead the ladies’ division. Inez is mentally prepared to kick off her second round well tomorrow. She said, “My ball striking has been good, so hopefully it will be more of the same tomorrow.”
We wish all players the best of luck as they embark on the second round of the SOAC tomorrow!
