The Adoption of Crypto will start with Politics

Peter Cypher

The view is gaining ground that crypto regulation is being used as a weapon to prevent crypto adoption. Given that the state's financial stability is based on money printing, it is not surprising that it views crypto as a potential threat to its fiscal security. Some people think that private digital money can only flourish in societies that prioritize freedom. However, it is also possible that in a world of increasing digital surveillance, preserving our freedoms can only be achieved with the power of crypto and decentralization. Simply put, crypto relies on freedom, but freedom also relies on crypto. Here's why this is also true for politics: our existing political system falls short of true representation because the will of the people is not transparent and our hierarchical political institutions are prone to corruption. Instead of prioritizing better regulations, we should therefore leverage crypto to facilitate more decentralized decision-making processes with broader participation and better representation. This method will inevitably lead to the creation of policies in the interests of the people.

The great advantage is that we don't have to wait, because the implementation of this project does not require any prior regulatory approvals or changes to existing laws. Instead, it focuses on building the technical infrastructure needed to make a true representative democracy a reality.

The concept of TrueRepublic and political Proxy-Parties:

In current political parties decision-making is centralized, leaving little influence to ordinary members. We propose a bottom-up democratic party in which decisions are made directly by the base. Our idea is to technically enable so-called “Proxy-Parties”, fully controlled by their members, thus ensuring true representation. The prerequisite for proxy parties is that the will of the members becomes transparent, but at the same time privacy is preserved. In order to solve this issue, we've created the concept of TrueRepublic (TR), a decentralized chiper-space and marketplace of ideas. Groups can form "domains" within TR to make suggestions and ratings. A coin-based economic model ensures decentralization, protects against spam, and encourages high participation.

What differentiates the concept TrueRepublic from today’s digital voting solutions?

1. **Decentralization**: The platform is decentralized and owned by its users, ensuring protection against data manipulation.

2. **Domain Organization**: Users organize themselves into “domains,” which are encrypted spaces where identity is protected, ensuring that only members can participate. This fosters a marketplace of ideas and transparency regarding group preferences.

3. **Moderation-Free Environment**: An economic model eliminates the need for moderation and censorship, while also enabling the decentralization of the network. Transparent rules ensure genuine will-transparency, while offering protection against spam and troll attacks.

4. **Network Effect**: All users benefit from the network’s growth, leading to a self-reinforcing network effect that fosters the emergence of a democratic movement from isolated groups.

5. **Incentivization**: Domains can be boosted, allowing organizations to reward members for their ratings. This enables proxy parties to use membership fees, donations, grants, etc., to incentivize high levels of participation.

6. **Bitcoin Adoption**: The platform makes it easier for ordinary citizens to earn Bitcoin.

7. **Simple Domain Structure**: The domain structure is straightforward and highly adaptable to the needs of individual groups, with a few customizable options.

While the technological foundation for our concept already exists, there’s still a lot of development work to be done. We’re now looking to spread the idea and find developers. We want to keep everything open source and decentralized: no company, no foundation, no association. Groups can either provide their own developers or organize crowdfunding.
