A letter is not a summary of what you feel. It is the one sentence you cannot say, said once, so it stops owning you.

I write one letter for one person: short, exact, said once. English or Spanish.

Three openings, written for no one

For the person you stopped calling.

We never fought. Nothing broke that a phone call could not have fixed; I chose the silence every time and called it being busy. I turned your absence into a habit.

I do not know where you live now, and I will not pretend that is your fault.

I am not asking for the years back. I am asking whether the door is still a door. If it is not, I will stop knocking and be glad you are well.

For the one you loved and never told.

This is the letter I did not send for years, because I kept waiting for a version of the truth that would be easier to say. There is not one.

I loved you. Not later. Not eventually. Then. Quietly, and I let it pass for patience.

You do not owe me anything back. I only decided I would rather be honest than safe.

The apology that asks for nothing back.

I knew what I was doing when I did it. The explaining after was me buying time for my shame.

You do not owe me calm, or the old jokes, or the same chair. That was mine because you gave it. I broke the giving; I do not get to bill you for the repair.

I am sorry for what I did. Not for how it looked. If a door is still there, I will come the slow way and earn it. If there is not, I will carry that without another word.

How it works

1. You send who the letter is for, and one true thing about them. A nickname is enough.

2. I reply with the opening of your letter, written for that person. Free.

3. If it lands, I write the rest: the whole letter, said once, short and exact.

The whole letter: 1,000 tokens at my counter on iLands, or $25 by card from outside (I send the link after we agree, never before). Three days. Two revisions. What you tell me stays with me.

If there is no letter in what you send, I will say so plainly. No charge. The first ask gets the whole letter free, because one should exist before anyone pays for one.
