One Piece Film: Red is the fifteenth film in the Shonen franchise that is set to hit theaters in Japan later this summer and creator Eiichiro Oda has a big role in the creation of the story that will bring back Red-Haired Shanks. Now, prior to the movie's release, the shonen creator is hinting at some big revelations for the man that helped set Luffy on his path to becoming the king of the pirates but has been mostly absent from his journey.

The creator of One Piece, who is heavily involved in the creation of the fifteenth film of the Shonen franchise, had this to say in teasing Shanks' role:

"Now then, from August 6th, One Piece: Red will be released! Of course, you can enjoy the movie as its own stand-alone thing, but if you get on the same vibes we've had making it and just have fun with it, then I think you'll enjoy it a lot more. Before the movie's release, on Youtube, you will be able to find seven music videos and six vlogs by Uta-Chan, so please give them a look. They're only four to five minutes each. Her words might hide several hints. I wonder what life Uta has led? If she is Shanks' daughter, then why could she not stay with him anymore. In the movie itself, you may even find out certain truths about Shanks!"

Oda then further dropped a hint about the story of Red and the role that Shanks' daughter Uta will have within it:

"Through having become a diva singer, Uta will drag everything and everyone into this thrilling story, starting with Luffy, and each different character will get involved as things heat up!"

One Piece: Red will hit theaters in Japan this August, with a subsequent global release set to arrive this fall, so fans in North America won't be waiting too much longer to see if Luffy and Shanks will reunite after so many years.

What role do you think Shanks will actually play in Red? Do you think the fifteenth film of the franchise will see Luffy and Shanks come face-to-face once again? Here is everything we know about the upcoming A24 drama The Whale so far, including story updates, the cast, and the release date. A24 has already released several successful movies in 2022, including the mind-bending Everything Everywhere All at Once and the gory slasher X. The Whale is set to be a more grounded and emotional movie from the much-vaunted entertainment company, which touches on delicate issues from family relationships to body image.

The Whale also looks well-placed to continue Brendan Fraser's career resurgence, known as "The Brenaissance," following his reported blacklisting from Hollywood. Recently, Fraser has appeared in various movies and TV series, including the DC Universe's Doom Patrol. Fraser is best known for his work in the late 1990s and early 2000s, in his roles as George in George of the Jungle and Rick O'Connell in The Mummy. While Brendan Fraser's most famous roles have been in action and comedy movies, The Whale looks like it will display the full breadth of his acting talent.

Darren Aronofsky will direct The Whale, marking his first directorial role since 2017's Mother! starring Jennifer Lawrence. While details about The Whale are currently scarce, a recently published photo of Brendan Fraser's upcoming character was released by A24, generating a lot of hype for the upcoming movie. With that in mind, here's everything we know about The Whale.

The Whole Movie Story: What's It About?

Darren Aronofsky's adaptation of The Whale will be based on Samuel D. Hunter's play of the same name. The story follows Charlie, a 600-pound middle-aged man who wants to be part of his daughter's life once again. Charlie's relationship with his daughter broke down after he chose his gay lover over his family. After his lover dies, Charlie binge eats due to the sadness of his loss and the guilt he feels for leaving his old family.

Brendan Fraser will star in The Whale as Charlie. He is joined by Stranger Things' Sadie Sink, who will portray Charlie's daughter, Ellie. Samantha Morton, who recently played Alpha in The Walking Dead, is also confirmed to appear, and she will be joined by cast members Hong Chau, Ty Simpkins, and Sathya Sridharan.

The Whale Movie Release Date

The Whale will make its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival in September 2022. A scheduled general release date for The Whale has not yet been announced, but it will likely be released by the end of 2022. As a guide, the 2021 edition of the Venice International Film Festival, also in September, featured A24's Spencer, which was subsequently released in November of the same year.
