Steve Ford (Bruce Willis) is a down but not out L.A based Private Investigator whose professional and personal worlds collide after his loving pet Buddy is stolen by a notorious gang. A series of crazy circumstances find him doing the gang's bidding, while being chased by two vengeful Samoan brothers, a loan shark's goons, and a few other shady characters. They say a dog is a man's best friend, and Steve shows how far a man will go to be reunited with him.
A Los Angeles detective seeks out the ruthless gang that stole his dog.
I'd love to have written "Willis is back!", but sadly, this is a very mediocre movie. It is fun to watch, but kind of reuses everything it does a long the way.

Willis really does well, he seemed to care more about this role than many of the others the past several years, and co-stars also brings a good performance as well.

Now the directing is decent, and again it is also better than Bruce's movies the past several years, which might be connected to his performance, but it needed a little more for this. The same exact thing can be said about the writing, except it needed a big improvement, often it seemed like it didn't try to be while the directing implied it was.

It might have worked a lot better if tried to make everything more serious instead, but with a light comedic tone, as the unfunny scenes could have been made dramatic instead or have some light action, reminiscent of the Lethal Weapon movies.

I hope this Bruce at least gets some part in a good movie soon. Because I saw a glimpse of the actor I love, and I want to see more of him.
Once Upon A Time In Venice is one of the worst, most annoying films of the year and in recent memory. With the exception of a quite funny Jason Momoa, no one involved in this debacle walks away with their dignity intact. So many bad lines, so many missed opportunities, so many embarrassing acting moments, and so few reasons to sit through 90 minutes of a lackluster Bruce Willis wondering around Venice Beach aimlessly for his dog. Sadly Willis and especially John Goodman seem more lost than the pet they are trying to find. As I mentioned before, the only actor who brings anything to the table is Momoa, which is surprising, especially given what little he had to work with. He scores all the laughs in the film, that's right, both of them, mainly because of his deadpan execution of an otherwise run of the mill antagonist. This movie has no reason to exist and no story to tell and speaking of stories, once upon a time there was an actor who tried, then the 90s ended, he went bald, and just stopped caring. That's the end of the story and Bruce Willis's career.
The movie tries for propulsive Tarantino grit but ends up being just another annoying example of Hollywood’s addiction to stories in which graying white men bed beautiful young women and beat up men much more youthful and fit than they are.
