HAMPTON — Hampton police are still looking for a teenager accused of killing a 20-year-old woman during an altercation outside a Buckroe home two weeks ago.
Zakwan L. Tyler, 16, has been on the lam for 10 days, with no word from police on his possible whereabouts.
Several women were arguing outside Tyler’s home on Berkley Drive just before 6 p.m. on June 22 when the teenager walked out of the house with a handgun and fired, according to a search warrant affidavit filed in Hampton Circuit Court.

She collapsed on the roadway, just outside her parked car, with the driver’s door ajar when police arrived on the scene, court documents say.
For several minutes before medics arrived, a Hampton police officer, identified in court documents as Cpl. Joseph Jansson, performed CPR on Chisley as she lie on the street. But she was pronounced dead at the Hampton Sentara CarePlex about 30 minutes later.
The affidavit said the incident began when a friend of Chisley’s returned from a recent trip to Florida and realized she was missing money. Believing Tyler had taken it, she asked Chisley to go with her to his house to get it back.
But a woman who lived at the home ordered the women to leave, leading to a heated altercation on the street in front of the house.
That’s when Tyler walked out with a gun, opened fire, then “casually walked back into the residence,” the affidavit said, quoting from witnesses at the scene.
Jansson told other arriving Hampton police officers that he had not seen anyone leaving the home.

Hampton SWAT officers soon surrounded the house, and crisis negotiators also were brought in. The tactical team tried to address Tyler through a megaphone and fired chemical gas agents through a window in an attempt to force his surrender.
But when the SWAT team finally breached the home, Tyler was nowhere to be found inside. Police believe he slipped out before they arrived.
A Hampton magistrate has issued arrest warrants charging Tyler with murder, using gun in a felony, and possession of a firearm by a juvenile.
The search warrant list of seized items shows that police confiscated three handguns from the home on Berkley Drive during the search, as well as magazines, ammunition and holsters.
Hampton Police spokesmen Reggie Williams and Ernest Williams did not return phone calls Friday afternoon to determine where police think Tyler might be now, and whether he’s believed to be in the local area.
Meanwhile, Chisley is being mourned in Hampton and at North Carolina Central University, in Durham, where she was a junior.
“North Carolina Central University has lost a beloved member of our community,” the school’s chancellor, Johnson O. Akinleye, posted June 25 on its website. “A senseless act of gun violence stole the life of promising Eagle scholar Raegan Sharnae Chisley, a 20-year-old junior biomedical sciences major, in her hometown of Hampton, Va.”

“Raegan was a remarkable student who showed commitment, dedication and a passion for learning,” Akinleye added, saying she tutored chemistry and “was laser focused” on being a competitive applicant to medical school.
Betty Barefoot, 65, who lives a few houses down the street on Berkley Drive, said she heard the commotion that evening.

“I couldn’t see who was doing the arguing, but they were just extremely loud, which is what made me come to the door,” she said. “I heard the gunshot, called 911, and cops started coming from every direction.”
Barefoot said she and another neighbor watched from across the street as the the officer performed CPR on Chisley before an ambulance took her away. “We’ve never had anything on this street, and I’ve been here 33 years,” Barefoot said.
