An elderly man who is supposed to be a role model and whip the younger generation into line when they engage in deviant acts appears to be the one neck-deep in the deviance rather.
The octogenarian in Kenya’s Bungoma county will have to undergo a cleansing process after being found in bed with his daughter-in-law, Tuko.co.ke reports.
Villagers of Wabukhonyi in Kimilili sub-county were reportedly taken aback to find William Makanu, 84 seriously having sex with his daughter-in-law.
Bukusu elders told the press that they would be obliged to perform the ritual in order to cleanse the ageing man and his daughter-in-law.
"According to our culture that is wrong and as elders we will have to look for a sheep to make an offering so as to cleanse him and the daughter-in-law," Jared Barasa said.
After being caught in the sacrilegious act, the said daughter-in-law left the house to avoid shame and attack but the dirty old man remained inside the room and refused to open the door, forcing the angry villagers to break in.
"We asked him to get out of the house but he refused until we finally decided to break in. As his sons we are ashamed and concerned at the same time because we have wives and we now feel like he has been doing this for a while," said Wanjala, one of his sons.
Interestingly, Wanjala disclosed that they wanted to cane their father 20 strokes and settle the matter amicably but the cane-fearing old man refused to submit himself.
Police officers who got wind of the happenings arrived on time and saved Makhanu from angry villages who were bent on lynching him.

In a bizarre incident, a young man has found that his ex-wife is now his step mother and what is more, he even has a ‘brother’, fathered by his father.
The revelation came when the son filed an RTI at District Panchayati Raj Office to collect information about his father who had left house and was living elsewhere.
He filed the RTI after his father stopped giving him money and was living separately in Sambhal.
According to sources, the son had got married to a girl in 2016 and both were minor at that time.
Six months later, they got separated and though he tried for a reconciliation, the girl insisted on a divorce on the ground that the boy was an alcoholic.
When the son finally learnt that his father had actually married his ex-wife, he lodged a complaint at Bisauli police station and both the parties were called for a meeting on Saturday.
“We are trying for mediation though both, father and son were rather aggressive during the meeting on Saturday.
“The complaint is under investigation and police are taking action as per the law,” said the Circle Officer, Vinay Chauhan.
Meanwhile, the girl who is now the ‘mother’ of her ex-husband, has refused to return to him and said that she was very happy with her second husband.
“We have not been given any documents of the first marriage when both were minor. A case cannot be registered, as of now. Both the parties will receive notice for further sessions,” the circle officer said.
