I just want to join an old fashioned AOL chat room where I don't have to show my face and damn about the shit with random strangers who most likely just want to cyber but will at least pretend otherwise for ten minutes or so. Does this exist in any capacity today? I don't want Snapchat or dm's. I don't want forums and threads.

I miss AOL chat rooms too. It was so fun to just randomly go into chat rooms and talk to random people. I'd join chat rooms for all sorts of things. It was fun and exciting back then. I remember when I first started going into AOL chat rooms I would click on everyone's profiles in the chat and then proceed to add all the females to my buddy list.
Open the Community menu and select Chat Room Listings in order to access the AIM Chat directory. Alternatively, the same result can be achieved by using the AOL keyword Chat Room Listings to generate a complete directory of AIM chat rooms.
