Office Relocation: What to Check Before Moving Day
LikaS711Survey first. Count workstations, cabinets and archive boxes. Measure stair width, lift dimensions and doorways at both addresses. Check whether the destination has a loading bay or a courtyard entrance. Without this, the quote is a guess, and the correction happens on moving day at your cost.
Server equipment. Establish when it can be powered down and who signs off. This usually dictates the schedule for everything else.
Furniture. Most office desks and shelving aren't built to be moved assembled. Disassembly and reassembly should be written into the scope, not agreed on site.
Packing by category. Paper archives, monitors, glass partitions and lab equipment need different materials and handling. Mixed packing is where damage claims originate.
Written scope. Get the list of works and the box count on paper before booking vehicles. It's the only way to compare quotes and the only defence if something goes missing.
Liability. Check the contract states material responsibility for the property being moved. Verbal assurance covers nothing.
Do these five things and the move becomes logistics. Skip them and it becomes improvisation.
