Yeah the lack of matchmaking in firefight was a horrible choice, only further compounded by the fact the vidmaster achievements are always 4 player live. Like seriously I'm the only one of my friends who has ODST and possibly the only one who will. Local co-op is all that being done on my ODST copy.
Oct 04, · It has to be done on a custom match, but using the "Firefight classic" game mode (You can’t touch anything in options) The matchmaking option, ironically, is not an option, because in matchmaking the game will end after beating 1 set, and the challenge requires to beat the 4th set (and the bonus round).
ODST came with a Halo 3 multiplayer disc with all maps + map packs - on a seperate disc. ODST did, however, come with Firefight, but the original release did not have matchmaking for it. Originally posted by BennyBananza.

ODST didn't even have Firefight matchmaking. I don't know about Halo 5. However when they implement the customs browser, maybe it will have campaign. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. I distinctly remember reach having it. It really would benefit from having it all the same and it would be a massive improvement #4.

This won't be a problem for Halo 3: ODST's co-op modes, including Firefight, because unless you are friends with some dimwits - you won't be using matchmaking to fill a co-op game.
