The story of the Kalabalik at Bender, as it was soon known, crossed Europe's courts like wildfire. It was a sensation. A story of heroism and sheer insanity - exactly the kind of feat that was typical for Karl XII of Sweden. All eyes were now on Karl, and any further attempt to silence or betray the Swedish King was now out of the question.
