It has seen huge amounts of snow this winter though there is no fresh powder at the moment. I got up early and was greeted with a stunning dawn from my room in the Double Tree hotel in Breckenridge. Now regular readers of this blog will know I raved about Powder Mountain in Utah a few days ago, see here for that blog , as I passed through. Well if I had the choice tomorrow of skiing Arapahoe Basin again or Powder Mountain again guess which one I would chose? Jonathan has been a ski instructor at Keystone for the past 10 years, but comes here for his thrills. And on I went… taking the same lift each time and finding endless ways down… the mountain was my playground:. As I passed the base of the top lift my lift to head down my body put the brakes on and skied into the lift queue — even though my brain said it was time to go back to the car. Each time I did the run in a single take and than chatted away on the lift with whoever I happened to sit next to. The resort was just down the road and only required a single change of shoe — I was in an automatic after all. The slopes were wide open and cut through the trees — the two resorts were under 10 minutes apart but were light-years apart in what they offered. Each resort is different and this is what makes skiing and visiting so many resorts interesting to me. As I left the valley to head back to Breckenridge one thing was for sure — I had left a little bit of my heart in A-Basin. Another fabulous day. An oxygen bar — and very popular it was proving to be in my hotel in Breckenridge, The Double Tree. If you come straight from sea level it can be a problem — headaches, lack of energy and difficulty in breathing. A few years ago I came to Breckenridge straight from London and waking up with jet lag at 3AM and being unable to breathe is not a pleasant experience. Luckily on this trip I was acclimatised after a week in the lower altitude resorts of Utah on my road trip. Today was uneventful and even bordering on the boring — and all the better for it in my opinion. All day I played Led Zeppelin on my iPod only 1 headphone in case you are wondering, so I could also hear what was going on around me. Breckenridge is a favourite because it has some great skiing and, unlike some of the other household name US resorts I could mention, it lives up to expectations. I am a big fan of Breck and I am not the only one — it is the most popular US resort with British skiers. The snow has longed since dripped of the branches and in the distance I could see rings of smoke through the trees. So, it was time to swap my powder skis for my piste skis — Atomic redsters instead of Atomic vantages. The resorts of Aspen, Copper and Vail are that way — all places I will be visiting in a couple of weeks after nipping up to Canada. And with that it was off to the Lake Chutes — it is the most difficult area of Breckenridge and goes beyond double black diamond — it is called ET, Extreme Terrain. Given the current fabulous conditions the redsters held the snow superbly as I did it in a single fast take. When I have one of my down days I just cruise round a resort chatting amiably to people on lifts, getting lost in Led Zeppelin and being entertained by whatever silly thoughts pop into my head. Apart from the steep slopes at the top which do need concentration the groomers ski themselves. Perhaps because both resorts are owned by Vail Resorts? After lunch I cruised the slopes from the restaurant and there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run I took the direct one down to Breckenridge. That should be easy to guess and 6 will do to get you entered into the draw, but can you get all 13 clues? Any colour you like as long as its black. While not reviewed at the time with the same high level of admiration as their first film, Help! An eastern cult a parody of the Thuggee cult is about to sacrifice a woman to their goddess , Kali. They notice that she is not wearing the sacrificial ring. Instead, Ringo Starr , drummer of the Beatles, has the ring, sent to him by the intended victim, who is a fan of the band. Determined to retrieve the ring and sacrifice the girl, the chief priest, Clang, several cult members, and high priestess Ahme leave for London. After failed attempts to steal the ring without Ringo noticing, they confront him in an Indian restaurant. Ringo learns that he will be the next sacrifice if he does not give up the ring. However, the ring is stuck on his finger and he cannot take it off. The Beatles are chased around London by members of the cult. After a jeweller fails to cut the ring off, the band resorts to the bumbling efforts of Professor Foot, a mad scientist and his assistant Algernon; when his equipment has no effect on the ring, the scientist decides that he must somehow acquire it. Ahme comes to the Beatles' rescue and tries to shrink Ringo's finger to get the ring off with ease, but the cult and the scientists ambush the band's home, causing Ahme to drop the syringe in shock, shrinking Paul instead. The band runs to the Austrian Alps and narrowly escapes a trap there, thanks to Ahme, who is secretly aiding the Beatles. To stay safe, they ask for protection from Scotland Yard. They are hidden in Buckingham Palace, narrowly avoiding capture by the scientist. Later at a pub, Clang sets a trap for Ringo involving a trap door and a tiger. Then they flee to the Bahamas, followed by the police officers, the scientist, and the cult members. After Ringo is nearly captured, the police have the other Beatles pose as him in order to ensnare the cult members. Despite their best efforts, however, the scientist catches Ringo and hides him aboard a boat where he intends to cut off his finger to get the ring. Ahme rescues Ringo by giving the scientist a shrinking solution in exchange. The two of them dive into the ocean to escape, but Ringo cannot swim, and they are both captured by Clang and his followers. In the end, when Ringo is about to be sacrificed on the beach, the ring suddenly comes off. He puts the ring on Clang's finger, who is then chased by his own cult as the song 'Help! Thus, this feature film was in colour and was shot on several overseas locations. It was also given a more extensive musical score than A Hard Day's Night , provided by a full orchestra, and included excerpts of well known classical music: Wagner 's Lohengrin , Act III prelude, Tchaikovsky 's Overture , the ' Ode to Joy ' from Beethoven 's Ninth Symphony and, during the end credits and with the Beatles' own comic vocalisations, Rossini 's Barber of Seville overture, as well as orchestral arrangements of Beatles songs, among them ' A Hard Day's Night ' and ' She's a Woman. Shooting commenced in the Bahamas on 23 February Starr commented in The Beatles Anthology that they were in the Bahamas to film the hot weather scenes, and therefore had to wear light clothing even though it was winter and the weather at the time was actually cool. According to The Beatles Anthology , during the restaurant sequence filmed in early April, Harrison began to discover Indian -style music, which would be a key element in future songs such as ' Norwegian Wood '. Filming finished on 14 April at Ailsa Avenue in Twickenham. The ski scenes were shot at Obertauern , a small village in Austria. One reason this location was chosen was that the stars of the film were less likely to be recognised there than at one of the larger resorts with many British tourists.
