FINANCES

Arriving in Kyiv, you should change your money to the national currency - hryvnia (UAH). US Dollars and Euros are the most spread currencies in exchange desks; others are rare - you can change it only in several points in the city centre. It is better to change money in banks or exchange desks in malls.

HEALTH

Being in Ukraine, you should have insurance. The most preferable variant is provided by one of the Ukrainian insurance companies (ask about this in the Centre for International Education). All international students are registered in Hospital No 11, it serves you during your mobility period if you have any problems with your health. Please, inform your professors and coordinators if you felt ill, as you can not skip courses without a reason.

MOBILE CONNECTION

There are 3 main Ukrainian mobile operators: “Kyivstar“, “Lifecell” and “Vodafone“. Note, that many registration procedures require Ukrainian mobile numbers. The Internet connection in the campus is provided by the "KPI Telecom" operator. Their office is located in building No 7, office 130-a. The monthly payment for the Internet is approximately 80 UAH: you can pay in terminals or via online services. The Wi-Fi connection is in many city locations, especially in the center. Being on campus, you can catch WI-FI in the Library, Knowledge Square, as well as in many educational buildings. Mobile operators provide the mobile Internet connection – 3G and 4G. Collect mobile numbers and e-mails of your coordinators and professors, and add the account of Academic Mobility Office to your friendlist on Facebook to communicate easier.

To navigate easier use campus map, scheme of metro, map of Kyiv. Download “EasyWay” application to find the public transport routes.

Due to Decommunization Law, many streets and squares in Kyiv were renamed last years. Addresses in this Guide and in the majority of advertisements are new, but locals mostly call streets by their old names, and many address signs have the old names. Ukraine has right-hand traffic, house numbering starts from the city centre; odd numbers are on the left side of the road, even numbers are on the right side; houses located deeper into the quarter have additional Cyrillic letter indexes in alphabet order (1-a, 1-b, 1-v, 1-g etc.).
