University of HavanaThe University of Havana (UH; Spanish: Universidad de La Habana) is a public university located in the Vedado district of Havana, the capital of Cuba. Founded on 5 January 1728, the university is the oldest in Cuba, and one of the first to be founded in the Americas. Originally a religious institution, today the university has 15 faculties (colleges) at its Havana campus and distance learning centers throughout Cuba.

Olinta Ariosa MoralesOlinta Ariosa Morales (1921 – 1999) was a librarian from Cuba. She played an important role in the development of the public library and school library systems in her country after the Cuban revolution, in which she was jailed for her participation. Throughout her career she was an activist and advocate for multiple causes. She played a key role in the formation of the Cuban Association of Librarians.
