The Panty Gag: The panty gag is a a Very difficult topic for even experienced bondagers to discuss. It is rare for a practice to be so hemmed and hawed about and treated with such secrecy. (This is odd especially, as it has no actual pain involved.) Many playful sumbissives will happily accept being bound in various positions, gagged with red balls or layers of tape and half a blast - but, ask them to substitute a pair of panties for a scarf between their lips and they will become extremely shy and ask for anything else. Even so, the many letters I have received show that while they shyly refuse the offer, that they wish first to understand the practice and why it excites them before they do something that would lead to a case of harsh self-judgment. After a few more conversations one realizes that the shyness to allow a panty gag isn't the common problem about trust issues as one might predict. These submissives will allow other (often complex) gags, many of which are more physically uncomfortable and awkward than a panty gag. The root of the problem comes from the self-image that bdsm is fine and "moral" but allowing that which they connect most with other concepts "crosses a line" which may even surpass bdsm's limits. (This was taken from a direct qoutes from a various young ladies I've spoken to.) Hopefully by reading this you can understand that the psychology is really no different, simply enhanced by the social viewpoints on womens undergarments, how we are trained to see them and why the idea (for both dominant and submissive) it's so exciting to see them used as part of the process of gagging. The Psychology?: The female undergarment holds a rather symbolic place in western sexual society. It serves as a barrier, a seducer, and the keeper of secrets. They serve as the last line of defense between a womans body and the world. How many scenarios (movies, photographs, and even in our own bedrooms) have we seen a woman willing to bare all but the body parts that only those closest to you get to see. In a "vanilla" situation they simply set the pace and let the male partner know exactly where he is allowed to initiate and where to go. Until those come off, the control of that physical sector is still in the total domain of the female, once removed it becomes considerably more mutual. For most in our culture, the excitement of the undergarments is that the represent and "undiscovered country" of the body, and for the women they provide the ability to hide even when exposing oneself into a public or physically intimate situation. The undergarments themselves hold special symbols in them. The "plain white cotton" variety is seen as the "good girls" look, the red lack or black silk as the "naughty". Each "barrier" can send it's own message about the persons intentions, her attitude and in what manner she is presenting the separation to you? Is it a temptation, a tease or an outright refusal? All of these play a regular role in how we see the female undergarments and how we emotionally/psychologically react to them. (This can even play off in the game without either side noticing that the style of panties being used can change the attitude towards them.) Combining the instantaneous symbolism of the sexuality implied with the fact that these are the keepers of the body's most "forbidden" and "secret" places creates quite a complex set of In essence, the panty gag turns the barrier that once protected them against them and creates and and can true sense of helplessness and submission desired in such a practice. Being gagged and having your speech removed is one form of excitement, the combining of that with the removal of your last wall of defense creates for a rather stunning emotional discord that increases the tensions of the bondage. Application: As with many gags, there are many ways to apply a panty gag. Be it your first attempt as it would be for many reading this or an increase in difficulty - these techniques should open your ability to explore such a practice. Cleave Gagging: If the panties are elastic enough and the submissive isn't quite ready for the whole pair to be inserted into their mouths one can simply put them "long-ways" through the teeth and around the head securing them in the back with a clip or clamp of some sort. You can add more stuffing, bandage and tape around this cleave if need be. This is often a good first step. The Stocking Stuffer: One can also use a stocking and put the panties into the stocking making a thick "ball gag" sort sorts. If the panties are left in the middle of the stockings they leave two fulls ends of stocking that can be used to secure the gag around the back of the head, holding the panties in between the lips. Mirror-Gagging: A big thrill for many people is watching themselves take such an "invasive" gag as this. If a mirror can be arranged to be in the way they can watch the entire process from the inserting to the additional binding. (This technique can also work for any other major gag.) Self-Gagging: If the submissive is shy about letting you place the panties in her mouth she can do so herself. allowing her to insert them may take longer, but will allow her to adjust to the feeling of it at her own pace. Once inserted, the dominant can apply the rest of the gag as he sees fit. Mutual Gagging: In the rare case that two or more submissives are involved one can have them handle much of the panty insertion and gagging. If you have them do that they can use either their own (or each others) panties. If they are both tied next to the other, you can use the same panty switch or gag them one by one. Things to Consider: Aside from the above mentioned techniques there are a few other things to consider. Based on the "scene" you've set the undergarments should match the mood of the players. If you wish to tempt, be tempting, if not - don't mix mental signals. Wear what feels "most realistic" to your scenario. Also, will you be using the panties you are wearing, the ones in the drawer or for the ultra-kinky, a pair of somebody else's? This is MUCH better discussed before a pair appears and nobody knows where they came from. Also - remembered that safety comes first and that the submissive is protected for damage at all costs. End Note: In the end, the mystery of why the use of a pair of panties is not so strange or mysterious at all. It serves as a means to push ones personal view of what is accepted as what in every day life and forces them to "chew" on it for awhile. It may seem like a rather extreme step for many, but the psychology of why it is so exciting is no more degrading than any other practice. It may strike a deeper chord for a woman due to the symbolism - but in the end it's no different than the regular practice you've been partaking in nor is it any more "immoral".
