The spread of COVID-19 vaccine myths includes untruths such as, "The vaccine contains a microchip in it that gathers information and tracks me," or "The vaccine can cause me to be ‘magnetic.’"
On November 16, the nation’s foremost nursing organizations collectively put their feet down in an endorsement about "Dissemination of Non-scientific and Misleading COVID-19 Information by Nurses." They include the:
"Providing misinformation to the public regarding masking, vaccines, medications, and/or COVID-19 threatens public health," the statement says.
When it’s not grounded in science and backed by the CDC and FDA, misinformation can cause illness, maybe death, and worst of all, it helps sustain the pandemic, the statement says. Nurses should uphold the truth, and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, as well as "highest scientific standards."
A clear directive makes this statement powerful since it doesn’t just "suggest" what needs to happen, calling nurses "professionally accountable." Violations, it says, may lead to discipline by a nurse’s board of nursing, and "may place their license and career in jeopardy."
When nurses start to spread misinformation, health experts believe that’s cause for alarm. That premise is echoed in an "Ethical Issues" paper in the December issue of The American Journal of Nursing .
The author, Pamela J. Grace, PhD, RN, FAAN, shared that she’d come across erroneous comments on a nurse leaders’ forum such as, "These vaccines cause unwanted mutations in germ cells," and that "This information is being hidden from us."
[ Read: The Role of the Home Health Nurse ]
"Misinformation spread by nurses who use their credentials as evidence of knowledge and trustworthiness symbolizes a failure to be professionally responsible, and this is an ethical failure," she says. "A good motive is not an adequate excuse for not understanding what one knows and doesn’t know and how one’s data gathering might be subverted by preexisting beliefs about the truth of something."
In a related move, on November 15, the American Medical Association (AMA) announced that it had adopted a policy to combat disinformation from a small number of healthcare professionals. That has "undermined public health efforts" and is "harming credibility of health professionals."
The AMA said it will collaborate with other health professional societies and stakeholders, study that disinformation and its impact, and "develop a comprehensive strategy to counter it."

Working shift schedule of the worker in a company or organization is a critical task; it is vital to create it in a way that is beneficial for the organization. In hospitals, nurses play an essential role in hands-on care of the patient according to the instruction of the doctor. The presence of the staff in a hospital for 24 hours is significant. The staff can’t provide their services 24 hours then a staffing schedule is necessary to make that defines the working shift of each worker. Nurses spend days and nights taking care of the patient because after the doctor prescription or checkup; they know what to do and how to do. For a nurse, it is difficult to provide services for 24 hours; for that purpose, a nursing staff schedule is made to assign the shifts to the nurses in the hospital.
The plan must be prepared in a way in which each nurse must have two shifts in a day. A shift is a number of hours in a day in which nurses provide their services. It can be an 8 hours nursing schedule, 12 or 24 hours nursing schedule and Dupont. This schedule contains the name of the nurse, how many hours he/she spend, number of shifts in a day, the date, leaving time, arrival time, days when he/she is off duty, department name and signature of the nurse. We share a collection of the best free nursing work schedule templates available in a different format that is perfect for you. This scheduling increases the efficiency of the work, the workload is divided and best for both nurse and patient.
Scheduling is the key to increase the efficiency and productivity of an organization or company. A hospital must have a schedule for nursing for the better treatment of the patient because the nurse is the only one who interacts more regarding medication after the doctor. Below we share some points that show the real purposes of nursing schedules. These are as follows:
The hospital manager needs to communicate with the nurses before making the schedule. If someone wants to take off because of some solid issue, wants to take a DuPont and so on. It would be best if you asked your team before making it to avoid any disputes.
Every organization, company, industry and hospital created their schedule two weeks before issue. It is the best way to be aware of your nurses’ team about future work and duties. Nurses can make their plan according to the schedule provided by the manager. Nursing planner template helps you to make this schedule easily. It’s not a good thing to make plans for shifts just two or three days before.
If you receive any time off request from the worker, then create your schedule to keep in mind these requests as it accepts or rejects. If the vacation request is approved, then you should include the only nurses who are on duty.
It is common to swap the duties of the working shifts due to some solid reason. When someone needs to swap shifts because of some personal issue like illness and so on, then the nurse has permission to do that. If nurses want to exchange their duties, then you should allow them to swap their duties after a specific process.
Sometimes the overtimes by the nurses create disturbance in the schedule that affects the hospital and patient. Try to create a plan in which no nurse has two or more than two shifts in a day; it is excellent for the nurses and patients. You can easily achieve these things without any disturbance by downloading the daily nurse schedule templates; these templates are editable, printable and available free in just one click. Nursing is a hard job. Nurse care is a professional job when you go out to take care of someone and get paid in return to this service. A nurse care schedule is prepared by the manager that lists the duty time with the date performed by the nurses. Sometimes, it is difficult to take good care of patients and yourself when the schedule is not well designed. Time management is key for the nurses for doing an excellent job in their field. Some useful time management tips for nurses are as follows:
Healthy sleep helps to keep you physically and mentally fit. The body and brain of the person work more efficiently and actively with healthy sleep than the person who takes poor sleep. When a nurse has a shift in the night for 8 or 12 hours, then she should have off for a full day to complete rest and sleep. It increases the productivity and efficiency of your work.
A schedule is issued in advance to the nurses about their shifts by downloading the free blank nursing schedule template. It would be best if you plan your routine according to your shift schedule. It helps to complete your routine tasks easily and efficiently.
Taking care of your diet increases your energy level and enables the person to accomplish daily tasks efficiently. A healthy diet increases the concentration of your work and boosts your energy level. If a nurse has a shift in the day, then pack a healthy lunch, take some fruits and other stuff to make your day healthy. Taking care of yourself is more important than anything else.
The teamwork and cooperation give you lots of advantages and are helpful to achieve the desired goals easily. If you cooperate with your colleagues, it helps to do your work more easily like you can swap your shifts, ask your colleges to provide service when you are not feeling well and so on.
We have seen there are many issues raised for the bad scheduling of the hospital nurses. To avoid all the things that create a disturbance, you should keep in mind the three effective rules to make it useful. Three important nurse scheduling rules are as follows:
When you have a long shift, it gives you significant benefits. You can select and download the nursing shift scheduling template in your favourite format to get all the benefits. Some are as follows:

Most of the nurses prefer 12 hours shifts because more time off. They work three days a week and four days off from duty which is enough for a healthy work-life balance.

It depends on the nurse’s behaviour, some prefer to work at night because the day shift is busier, and they easily stay awake at night while some prefer to work in a day shift because of sleeping issues.

It is a 12 hours shift work in which four teams of nurses provide services for four weeks of rotating shifts. In this schedule, a nurse has shifts of four consecutive nights and then three days off, after three days off three consecutive day shifts and one day off, after that three days night shift followed by the three days off and at the end four consecutive days shift then seven consecutive days off.

Hospitals say nurses work 12 hours, followed by the full days or two days off. Nurses generally work long shifts in case of any severe condition.

Nurses work three days a week and 4 days off when she/he has a 12 hours shift.

Nurses make their own schedule instead of the hospital manager. They select their shifts according to their routine.

In this schedule, nurses work 2 days and have two days off, after two days off he/she works three days and then has two days off, after that he/she works two days followed by two days off.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Nurses say they're overworked and spread too thin and it's affecting your safety.
They teamed up with lawmakers Tuesday night in Kalamazoo to rally support.
They're laying out the basics of new legislation that would regulate patient care across the state. House Bill 40-08 does two things. It creates a minimum nurse to patient ratio in hospitals and it also bans mandatory overtime.
The Michigan Nurses Association says hospitals are cutting costs by cutting staff, making them work back-to-back shifts and cover more patients than they can handle.
"Administrators are claiming it's due to the economics and finances behind it. However, nurses still need their numbers to be able to do what we're supposed to be doing which is safe patient care," said Shawn Shuler, who supports the bill.
"Right now in law there are rules that govern how many hours a pilot can fly, how many hours a truck driver can drive, but no number of hours a nurse can be forced to work," said Ken Fletcher of the Michigan Nurses Association.
The MNA says hospitals would actually save money in the long run by hiring more nurses. It says it would cut back on staff burnout and hospital turnaround and also cut down on infections and injuries among patients.
