Nurses, employers, and the public may obtain written verification of Alabama licensure through these services.

Nursys is the coordinated national database for verification of nurse licensure, discipline, and practice privileges for RNs and LPN/VNs licensed by participating boards of nursing, including all states in the Nurse Licensure Compact. The chart below reflects the appropriate NURSYS function for each user.
Employers should use Nursys QuickConfirm only during the interview process. Upon hiring a nurse, the employer should enter the individual into Nursys e-Notify; that service allows you to validate unique identifying data specific to the individual nurse. NURSYS QuickConfirm is not appropriate for employers validating identity, who should exercise extreme caution regarding potential license fraud. Any healthcare organization that employs multistate licensed nurses and/or out-of-state nurses working on a multistate privilege must verify licensure through Nursys e-Notify. You may also continue to use the ABN Subscription Service, which offers additional benefits to subscribing employers.
The ABN Subscription Service remains available for Alabama nurses and will include data identifiers unique to the individual nurse, to protect against license fraud. Employers may request discipline records free of charge; participation also satisfies the Annual Report of Employing Agencies. In addition, all discipline records for Alabama nurses and nurses working on multistate privilege (MSP) entered into the Subscription Service are pushed to Alabama employers in real time, with no delays. The products to utilize are listed below:
To access the Nursys website, please go to Nursys.com .

The target audience for subscribers is employing facilities of Alabama licensed nurses.
Subscribers will receive electronic notification any time there is a change in any employee’s license status. This reduces the risk of individuals working without proper authorization from the Board of Nursing. In addition, subscribing will eliminate the need to submit the annual report of employing agencies, as this will be accomplished electronically through the on-line subscription verification process.
PUSH technology notifies you immediately of changes in license status.
Provides license verification information without phone calls or written requests which include:
What are the levels of service and what is the price?
*If paying online using a credit card, a 3% transaction fee will be added to your total.
The primary purpose of the Subscription Service is to provide employers with real-time information regarding changes to the status of the nursing license of its employees. For example, if a license lapses or is disciplined, the employer receives notification via PUSH technology when this occurs. By making this information immediately available to employers, the ABN is fulfilling its mission of public protection.
No. The utilization of the Subscription Service eliminates the need to submit a separate report.

License Lookup provides primary source verification as of the date the verification is printed. License Lookup is not the same as verification of licensure required by other Boards of Nursing prior to license issuance. You may look up a licensee using either the name or license number.
Attention Employers: Primary source verification obtained using License Lookup is valid only if the original was printed and maintained in your facility. You should not accept a copy of the License Lookup print product under any circumstances.
The data included on License Lookup is not exhaustive and does not include all needed information for endorsement of your Alabama nursing license into another state.
The ABN strives to maintain accurate records at all times. Changes to a license status will post very quickly, usually in no more than 24 hours after a status change has occurred.
To utilize the free licensure verification “License Lookup“ provided by the Board, please follow the steps listed here.
