Cuban-born Anthony Timiraos had a varied and productive professional life for years. He was so successful that he was pulled back into business after attempting to retire three times. Maybe now that he is devoting his life to his postponed passion for male figurative photography, retirement will stick.
“Over the years, my husband and I have traveled across this country and to Europe, Asia, South America, and Africa. At every opportunity during our trips we visited art museums and were always aware of the beauty and form of classical nude art. The body has unlimited artistry, elegance, and grace, and artists through the ages have portrayed the human form by exposing the body as they see it. One artist’s view of the classical nude is always different from another, but what we do see in common is the beauty of the natural curves and shapes that the models form.”
Anthony somehow burnishes his images in the lens and post-production. His warm and saturated Rembrandt browns and blacks give his men’s physiques the patina of history. And while he produces work that definitely has a signature style, each man remains his individuality with his own specific characteristics.
Timiraos currently resides in South Florida with his husband, who has been by his side for the past 47 years.

I was born in Cyprus but Melbourne/Australia has been my home for most of my life.
At the age of eighteen, I bought my first camera and studied photography for 6 months but gave it up. But in my early forties, I went back to school and completed a diploma in photo imaging and now at fifty six years old, I still love doing what I do.
Originally, I started as a nature/landscape photographer which is why to this day, I still describe myself as a nature influenced photographer, for I love spending time in the great outdoors which now has become the background for most of my photo shoots.
Around ten years ago, I did my first art nude shoot and photographing men has become a real passion and even though I photograph both male and female models, I mainly concentrate on photographing men. I love capturing male beauty, sexiness, sexuality, sensuality and since I love abstract art then abstract photography is also a part of what I love doing and especially when it leaves people wondering what it is they are looking at.
In 2015, I contributed three images to the local Men On Men art exhibition/competition and one of my photos won first prize and was described as a perfect example of a photo showcasing masculinity, and right there and then I was hooked on exhibiting my work. In 2016 I had my first solo exhibition titled “exposed” which showcased my men and everything else that I do with my photography. In 2017, I had a second exhibition which was in collaboration with three fellow photographers and the exhibition titled “fourms” showcased the beauty of the human form, shape, the beauty of both men and women. Early in 2019, I contributed six prints to an exhibition titled “Kings and Queens” and the Fourms team is back talking about holding another Fourms exhibition.
Over the years, my photography has earned many awards and has also been published in a few magazines. In 2018 I joined the team at a magazine which showcases art nudes from around the world.
And as for the future, at fifty six years old, I have not done anywhere near what I’d like to do and I look forward to the future and what it brings!
