Nudism , Feminism and Girls

Naturism with a Feminist Angle:

I've been reflecting recently about why there aren't more girls, especially young women, involved in nudism. Generally speaking, http://barchartspublishing.net/__media__/js/netsoltrademark.php?d=beeg.life is apparent we live in a society where people are afraid of nudity, ashamed of it, and deem it just okay during sex or bathing. But when it comes to girls and nudity, is there another factor at play called patriarchy? There was a recent post from a feminist site entitled "Go Naked; it is best for everybody (but especially for women)" about naturism and feminism that got me thinking.

First, the "naked rambler" storyline from a feminist perspective. A man named Nigel Keer was lately was fined under the Public Order Act for walking unclothed at Otley Chevin, a popular nature area in the UK. That's all he was doing. He was seen by a girl who had a "distressed frown" on her face, according to the off duty police officer that stopped him. (This storyline is a lot like the instance of of nude hiker John Cropper, except he wasn't seen by anyone else. Maybe it would have turned out differently if your female witness was involved.) This woman was never identified, never testified, and not spoken to. Nonetheless, it was enough to convict Nigel. As http://divorcewithrespect.org/__media__/js/netsoltrademark.php?d=beeg.life would instantly point out, the girl was assumed to be a "victim," helpless in front of the wandering naked man. Ironically, this policeman unwittingly violated girls everywhere by deciding this female casualty was distressed and needed his protection.

Nonetheless, in one of the comments, a girl identified with the female victim. She says,

Yes, many women have been victims of sexual assault or rape, and I will understand a lone girl feeling endangered or disturbed seeing Nigel. When they assault. It does not make sense to arrest someone for only "causing alarm" because they're doing something unusual.

A lone nude man is an presumed predator, possibly even a rapist? As the writer, CP Reece, intelligently comments, rape has nothing regarding nudity, but with exercising power over someone.

It's OK in marketing and trashy magazines, but not OK in the park or on the beach. Breasts usually are not even okay to show in public breastfeeding. She notes that we live in a patriarchal society where men have always had control over how much skin women can show in public. Is this why there are not more young women involved in naturism? If women associate taking off their clothing only with hot modeling, acting, and showing off their bodies, then they might believe they must look good enough to go bare in front of others. Of course looking great means being tall and skinny like the unattainable ideal we find everywhere in the media.

For female nudity, patriarchy seems to play an important role, especially in reference to topless rights. Truly women don't have to cover up breasts because they're breasts, but because they're girls. "Why?" Reese inquires. Because she's a vagina. It is a sexist, partriarchal law; or in this case, a sexist standard enforced by this officer, since it is legal to go bare in public in the united kingdom. It exists in a society where men hold the power.

But what about http://lekaren-bratislava.com/__media__/js/netsoltrademark.php?d=beachspy.xyz ? They got the right to go topless first. Will they be outside enjoying bare hiking before us women? Seems crazy, and I expect that will not be the case..

Sending back to the title, how is naturism good for everyone and especially for women? It cultivates gender equality, which can be particularly amazing for women whose bodies for once are not being put on display for male enjoyment. (Yes there are men that will still stare or join for that intent, but it is a completely different atmosphere in a true naturist setting. As Reece says to ladies, "a naturist guy will look you in a person's eye!") Naturism also advocates favorable body image and celebrates all body types outside of the media's ideal. Most people are naked and equal, free of any sexist textile constraints and with much less stereotyping, judgment, labeling, profiling, etc.
