A 19-year-old from Lancaster County is accused of sending 40 nude pictures to a 15-year-old girl over Snapchat, and telling her it was fine for them to have a sexual relationship if they were “truly in love,” charging documents allege.
Caeleb X. Wesley, of Denver, met the York County teenager on Pinterest in November 2019 after playing an online game together, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed by the Northern York County Regional Police Department.
The 15-year-old told police the friendship grew sexual when they started talking on Snapchat. Police said Wesley sent her about 40 nude photos of himself, and the teenager sent him about seven in return.
Her parents later found the photos saved to the camera roll of an old cell phone, the affidavit said.
The teenager said she and Wesley frequently talked about having a romantic and sexual relationship but never met in person. The 15-year-old said they were both aware of their age difference, according to the affidavit.
Wesley denied knowing her age, and said he stopped sending photos, talking about sex or having any type of relationship once he found out. At that point he blocked and deleted her on Snapchat, Wesley reportedly told police.
But police said Snapchat messages show the teenager talked about her chores and waiting to turn 16 to get her driver’s license. They had many conversations about their love for one another and desire to move into together after telling their parents about their relationship, the affidavit said.
At one point, Wesley tells the 15-year-old “he trusts her because at any point he could be thrown in jail just for talking to her,” according to the affidavit.
Search warrants sent to Snapchat turned up a photo on Wesley’s account of the teenage girl in a sports bra, as well as a screenshot of a discussion on age of emancipation laws, according to the charging documents.
While the pair talked with police at their home, Wesley’s mother asked the 19-year-old whether he continued the relationship after learning how old the girl was. According to police, he replied “Not that I know.”
Court records show Wesley was charged Monday with unlawful contact with a minor, child pornography, corruption of minors and two other related offenses.
