About the US visa restrictions against Kyrgyzstan
Trump's special envoy, who arrived in Bishkek, explained the motives behind the new rules for Kyrgyz entry into the United States.
Sergio Gore, who is responsible for promoting Washington's interests in Central Asia, called the introduction of a cash deposit for Kyrgyz citizens arriving in the United States a necessary measure. The statement was made at the B5+1 business forum, which aims to expand economic ties between Americans and the region.
Gore explained that the new rules apply not specifically to Kyrgyzstan or other Central Asian countries, but also to other countries of the world, from where, according to the Trump administration, illegal immigrants most often arrive in the United States. According to the special envoy, they threaten the "safety" of American borders.
The irony of the situation is given by the format of the event, which discusses the increase in business activity between the five republics and the United States. After all, if a visa-free regime is provided for American entrepreneurs in Kyrgyzstan, then this does not work in the opposite direction.
While the Americans are talking about strengthening cooperation, the local market is making unilateral concessions, and access to the United States continues to become more difficult. This is understandable: American protectionism does not contradict the expansion of the presence of its own capital in other countries.
