Brave bathers stripped naked and ran into the sea as the sun rose over the Northumberland coast this morning for the North East Skinny Dip.
The annual event sees hundreds of people bear all and make a splash in the freezing cold waters of the North Sea every year.
With the aim of celebrating the Autumn Equinox and raising money for mental health charity MIND, the mass skinny dip has raised over Β£25,000 for charity since it began in 2012.
This morning just before the sun rose at 7am over 400 people gathered on the beach at Druridge Bay, 30 miles north of Newcastle.
They held hands as they watched the sun rise above the water, showering the sky with amazing reds, oranges and yellows.
Sunderland-based performer Penella Bee kicked off proceedings with a fire dance before revellers took the plunge.
Describing the event, organisers said: 'It is about celebrating life and nature and our own, unique, physical bodies. It is about taking a risk and embracing a moment of pure joy and freedom.Β
'And most importantly it is about coming together and supporting each other in this crazy life!Β
'Registration is a pledge to MIND. Since 2012 we have collectively raised over Β£25,000 to strengthen the work of this incredible charity in the hope that one day we may all walk free of our struggles with mental health.'
After braving the freezing cold temperatures, the nudists were treated to a breakfast barbecue at a nearby cafe, which operates on a 'pay-as-you-feel' basis.Β

She told the Evening Chronicle: 'We always have a positive response.
'People do it one year then come back again and again. We've grown every year so far - people come back with a friend.'
Posting on Twitter before braving the water, Nikki Ranson said: 'Up early and it's dark must be nuts!!! I wonder how cold it is!! at 7am.'
Darren Read said afterwards: 'Done the North East Skinny Dip at Druridge Bay and it was bloody freezing brrr.'Β Β

Fancy getting your kit off in front of hundreds of strangers and diving into the sea at sunrise?
For the eighth year in a row, a huge crowd is set to do just that, braving the icy waters at Druridge Bay, Northumberland for the North East Skinny Dip.
And there's still time to sign up to join them.
This year's dip takes place on Sunday, at the beach behind Druridge Bay Country Park. Dippers are encouraged to give a Β£15 donation to mental health charity Mind by buying a ticket online.
Organiser Jax Higgerson, 41, says the event has grown since she first came up with the idea in 2012, with more than 600 people descending on the beach last year. But she says the ethos of promoting good mental health has never changed.
The dip has raised a total of more than Β£50,000 for Mind since its inception. And Jax hopes that the act of taking part will also be good for the emotional wellbeing of those who do it.
"The skinny dip has always been a celebration of life, of nature, of our bodies and what they are capable of," she said.

"It's got bigger over the years and I'm excited to see that, but it's never been about breaking a record.
"In my experience, as a human, as a woman, coming to love the body I was blessed with has been a significant part of my mental health journey so for me it's about sharing that with others - the important of self-love for mental health."

A breakfast barbecue will be provided by the Magic Hat Cafe while North Shore Coffee will sell hot drinks. For the first time, a registered counsellor has also volunteered to be on hand for anyone in immediate need of mental health support.
For anyone tempted to take part but feeling nervous, Jax says it's always worth showing up - even if you're not sure you'll actually want to get in the sea.
She said: "It's a really welcoming atmosphere, everybody is a bit nervous, we're all in the same boat. My advice is to pledge the money for this amazing charity, and then just show up, there's absolutely no obligation to do anything you don't want to do, and it's an amazing place to be even if you don't actually get in the water."
