Bethany Marchant has given a terrifying account of the three hours she spent at the mercy of warped former boyfriend Stefan Carr
The recovering former girlfriend of thug Stefan Carr has given a full and frank account of her suffering after he tortured her for more than three hours .
Twisted Carr filmed himself preparing a noose to hang Bethany Marchant with after punching her during a ferocious attack.
The 28-year-old also threatened his lover with a knife and told her he was going to drive his van into a reservoir and drown her.
Carr is now serving 11 years and three months in prison after he was sent down last week.
Now Ms Marchant has spoken about the harrowing experience at the hands of her cruel and violent ex and how convinced she was she was going to die.
She has spoken out about her ordeal in the hope that others will seek help if they are in abusive relationships.
Ms Marchant told of how intense the emotional fallout of the attack has been, with the young woman avoiding dressing gowns for fear of hanging, taking down the registration when she sees the car model he drove and physically reacting to his smell.
"When I'm out, if I smell the aftershave he was wearing, I just have to get out of that area," she told Sky News.
The brutal attack on the morning of May 5, 2019 came as a shock to Ms Marchant.
Since the couple had met in a bar in June last year and began dating in October things between them had seemed good.
At first he was "charming" and kind, regularly buying her flowers.
There were none of the classic warning signs that the relationship was an unhealthy one, Ms Marchant said, with Carr not showing any controlling behaviour like telling his partner what to wear.
This all changed when the brutal boyfriend boasted that he had been cheating on her.
When Ms Marchant asked to go home, he took her phone and the keys to her car, locking her in his house.
It was at this point that the savage attack began.
The Castleford, West Yorkshire man covered her face with a pillowcase and pushed her from room to room, choking her neck.
As Ms Marchant pleaded "I don't want to die", Carr threatened to hurt her son while brandishing a knife and then shoving her head through a noose.
She said: "As Stefan tied the white noose around my neck, I thought I was going to die.
"He told me that he was a trained killer and he didn't want to be 'that' person, but I was making him that person."
After three minutes of hanging from the knot, fearing her two-year-old would never see his mum again, the terrified woman tumbled onto the floor.
The moment she was released from the deadly knot she vomitted.
The ordeal only ended when Ms Marchant convinced Carr to take her to hospital, promising not to tell anyone about the attack.
While he was roughly shoving her into the back of his van the neighbours looked out onto the street, having heard Ms Marchant's screams.
They had already called the police, but phoned again when they saw her being manhandled.
Amidst a further flurry of threats from Carr, Ms Marchant managed to slip out of the van and run, screaming for help.
The muscular thug rugby tackled her to the ground but she wiggled free, running into the arms of the approaching police officers.
Ms Marchant said the force was very protective of her from that moment on, regularly calling her to make sure she was okay.
Her case was helped when police uncovered cameras set up around the house by Carr, which had recorded the attack.
Carr was sentenced at Leeds Crown Court after pleading to attempted grievous bodily harm on Ms Marchant and two earlier assaults against a former partner.

This is a dangerous, but effective "noose"

Ret's Noose is made by
taking an old T-shirt and cutting the neckline out of it. The sleeves
are left on. The shirt is repeatedly stretched over time as far as it
will go until it is about four or five feet long. It is then rolled from
the top to the bottom to make a loop. The end is placed over an OPEN ENDED
hook.

While no noose is "safe", Rets' Noose is good for novice Gaspers
or those at the intermediate level since it is simple and easily released.
When cut
open, (see Rets Noose), Ret's Noose becomes a soft rope that can be lubricated
with baby powder or some other form of DRY lubricant. As with any rope,
it can be tied in a variety of ways.
Ret's Harness
is, an old T-tshirt that is cut open and stretched out. We wrap it first
around the back of Misty's neck, to the front and then to the back once
again. Then it is passed under the arms and around the waist and tied.
We use an OPEN hook through the back straps. When lifted, most of her
weight is lifted by her chest while some pressure is applied to the neck
on the outer loop. The inner neckloop avoids chafing and keeps it from
constricting too much around her neck.
The
Bed noose is attached to the headboard or looped around the poles on a
brass bed. Some type of open hook/loop is used to run the rope through.
The girl lies with her head on the pillow and the noose around her neck.
The rope is pulled with the same effect as if she was standing.
A variation on this is that the noose would be tied to the headboard with
the noose around her neck. Instead of pulling the rope, her feet are pulled.
Not for the tickelish.
One of the
most important items that you have to plan on is where you are going to
secure the end of your rope. The rope should be strong, clean, ,unknoted
and untwisted.

We have found that the safest hook to use is the good old marine cleat.

One large one works well but we prefer to use two small ones. The bottom
larger one takes the strain of the rope while the top one allows the loops
of the rope to spread out and keeps the rope from pulling too tighly against
a single cleat, which can make it harder to get the rope unwrapped. The
method requires you to have one hand on her or the rope and the other hand
to untie the
