Starting Oct. 20th, I will be running a live intensive full stack web development bootcamp covering everything you need to know to go from no technical skills to employable. We’ll meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30pm EST to 9:30pm EST with office hours on Saturdays from 12pm EST to 3pm EST. The goal is to give folks who have been laid off or affected by the pandemic the tools they need to command a job in software engineering. I’m looking for a group of 100 individuals (#100Devs) and will give priority to those affected by the pandemic and/or under represented in tech. I recently ran a short 5 week bootcamp that was an amazing success. I want to follow it up with a 30 week full stack program to help folx get ready for a career in software engineering.
If you would like to join, please follow the instructions in my blog post here .
I’m Managing Director of Engineering for Resilient Coders . My job is to get black and brown folks into high paying careers as software engineers. We’re pretty damn good at it too. 85% of our graduates, most of whom do not have degrees or prior experience, go on to get full time offers at an average starting salary of $98,000. All free and stipended. No bullshit or funny business. I’m also a Distinguished Faculty Member at General Assembly were I’ve been helping folks learn to code for the past 8 years. You can see a sampling of my classes taught at Harvard, MIT, and elsewhere here and reviews from my past students here .
We’ll have class two nights a week with the expectation that you come prepared and have done the assigned reading ahead of time. I like to use lecture as a means of exploration and not dictation, but that only works if you come prepared. The first half of class will be exploring new topics and the second half will be lab. During lab, you will tackle what we just covered by building. You’ll never just listen to me and then sign off. Myself and TA’s will be available throughout the lab. You’ll have real time guidance / feedback and a chance to have all your questions answered.
This course is designed to give you the skills you will need to pursue a career as a software engineer, but will only work if you are committed and ready to put in serious work.
My activism is teaching. I want to help folks affected by the pandemic and those under represented in tech. The bootcamps I run are either very selective or expensive, so I am hoping to help in the best way I know how by offering a full stack course for free.
Following up, I switched to my PC and was able to submit the app today. Maybe the Discord update helped. Good luck!
Currently, experiencing the same problem. Tried multiple devices and no luck. Please share if you find a solution. I'll do the same!
Hi! I would like to hear when individuals subscribe or other alerts, but I do not want that sound to go to my viewers. I can set my alerts to only monitor, but that still creates a system sound and that system sound is then broadcasted.
Does anyone know of a way separate the audio when using a goxlr, so that only I can hear certain sounds? Thanks!
Starting Jan 11th, I will be running a FREE live intensive full stack web development bootcamp covering everything you need to know to go from no technical skills to employable. We’ll meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30pm EST to 9:30pm EST with office hours on Sundays from 12pm EST to 3pm EST on Twitch. The goal is to give folks who have been laid off or affected by the pandemic the tools they need to command a job in software engineering. Last cohort saw 65 folx get jobs with an average increase in salary of $53,000!
If you would like to join, please follow the instructions [here]( https://leonnoel.com/100devs/ ).
Also, feel free to ask any questions here! About the bootcamp, how to get a job in tech, or the dark side of coding bootcamps. I'll answer every single one :)

OMG, I planned to get into a web development study for the last few months now but have so many things (studying and working) on my hand and don't have much money to follow. Thanks Reddit for putting this thread on my page! The bootcamp is just right at my holiday begin so yes!!! Thanks Leon for putting this out!!
No prerequisites and anyone can join.
+1 to the list u/BenKhz mentioned and I like this list too: apilist.fun
Full Stack Open has everything on your wishlist and is completely free . It's my go to recommendation for folx who are already devs that want to pick up modern Fullstack JS. It doesn't cover everything, but it gives a great starting point that you can then build off based on what projects you want to work on after completing it.
Since you mentioned you want to purse programming as a career, there are many opportunities that honestly require very little "traditional" math. The biggest being web development. I've help hundreds of folx get jobs through bootcamps that only have high school level math skills and get amazing jobs. Many will get a job and then fill in any of the skills they need including advanced maths if their role requires it, but most do not. If you wanted to go into data science or Machine Learning then math becomes a much bigger deal.
As for getting better a problem solving, first get better at learning. Going through Dr. Oakley's "Learning How To Learn" course and Ali Abdaal's "Evidence Based Study Tips" course will help you retain all the information you consume. Learning to code is incremental and at first a lot of pattern recognition. At first people's "problem solving skills" are not improving, it is them recognizing problems they have seen or solved in the past. If you get through a comprehensive tutorial, mix in some code wars once you get deep enough, and use appropriate study techniques along the way you will be able to solve most of the basic problems you come across based on recalling what you did in the past.
I have a discord server with ~4000 people in it and I need to send announcements to everyone regularly. Sometimes the warning before sending says I am messaging +300 people and sometimes it says I am messaging +3000.
Are my messages being sent to everyone and does anyone know why I often get different numbers? Thanks!
Hey, thanks for the reply. I am pining in the same public channel to which everyone has access. Sometimes it says I am pining 300+ people and sometimes 3000+. Any idea why it may throw out different numbers in the same channel?
Follow a free tutorial that helps you learn a practical web development stack and then jump into building one of your early ideas! You will learn way more trying to bring your idea to life and you'll also get to flex your entrepreneurial muscles at the same time. For an intense intro, I recommend Fullstack Open from The University of Helsinki which teaches modern Fullstack Javascript.
Then find a community that can help you get unstuck as you learn and start absorbing ideas from other entrepreneurs. Some great places to "hang out" are Indie Hackers and Hacker News!
I made the decision to pick up coding during Uni to start my first business and it was the best decision I ever made, so happy to answer any questions should you have some! Good Luck!
