This summer vacation begins with a car accident... Our protagonist protects a man from an out of control car, but gets hit and loses his memory in the process. The man he saved happens to be the owner of a jazz bar, sótano. Out of sympathy for his hapless savior, the man decides to set him up with a job and a place to live. From the outside, sótano looks like a cozy little jazz bar, but behind the scenes they solve problems that the police and legitimate detective agencies won’t touch. The staff there give our protagonist the name "Haru". He gradually makes his way deeper into the organization, and the hearts and lives of the staff, while working as an apprentice bartender. But just who is Haru really...? [From Mangagamer ]
Age: 22? (Birthday: ???) The young man without a name who protected Inui, sótano’s owner, from getting hit by a car. Also, the story’s protagonist. He appears to have amnesia, but the doctors believe it’s only a temporary side effect of the accident. He’s carefree to a fault and overly touchy-feely. It’s not clear if he was always like that or if the accident had something to do with it. He’s bisexual, attracted to men and women, young and old, and it doesn’t take much to get him into bed at all. Sexual harassment is an everyday activity for him. He has a childish curiosity about everything and operates under an indecipherable set of principles. ”All right, I’ve got it! Let’s have sex!” [From MangaGamer ]
A bartender at sótano. He’s a clever and caring young man who always keeps other people’s feelings in mind. He’s sociable and good around people. He has a helpful personality and even befriends Haru right off the bat. Naturally, he’s good with women, too; but he’s actually quite shy and old-fashioned, so he doesn’t have any dating experience. He has a frank and stubborn side to him, but that earnestness makes him easily swayed by his surroundings and has caused him a lot of pain. ”No, I don’t swing that way.” [From MangaGamer ]
sótano’s owner. An open-hearted, helpful man with a tendency to poke his nose into other people’s business. He gives work to people who are having trouble or can’t get on their feet and have no place to go, but he’s got a good eye for people who’ll actually be useful. While he owns several restaurants and a detective agency, he’s an old man who lives a relatively simple, frugal lifestyle. He loves alcohol. ”Don’t be ridiculous and get back to work. I’ll take it out of your paycheck.” [From MangaGamer ]
sótano’s head bartender and pianist. He can handle just about any situation smoothly. His customer service is flawless, and at first glance he seems like an amicable intellectual; but in reality he’s a neurotic, anti-social young man with a propensity for obsessing over cleanliness. He’s also selfish, prideful, and quick to anger. The fact that Haru is annoying, stupid, and completely lacking in tact makes Ryu hate him at first sight. He values efficiency above all and doesn’t concern himself with appearances more than he needs to, so there’s a visible difference between his ’on’ and ’off’ modes. ”Get out of my sight.” [From MangaGamer ]
Sótano’s manager and head chef. He doesn’t speak or emote much. At first glance, he might even look scary, but he’s really just a lazy giant. His slow movements give the impression of a fearless, but calm, large-breed dog. He’s a strange person. On the rare occasion that he does open his mouth, he’ll either utter some enigmatic phrase that’s hard to classify as serious or not, or some really lame joke. He’s technically the manager of the bar, but he leaves most of the day-to-day work of running things to Ryu. He usually hides out in the kitchen and doesn’t come out much. His real name and other details are a mystery. According to him, he ’forgot’. ”...You made it.” [From MangaGamer ]
A young man with a gentle, polite demeanor, and one of Hiroyuki's former classmates. He was at the top of the class when he was in school with Hiroyuki, and he’s currently a senior in college with a tentative offer at an accounting firm. He drops by sótano to hire them to find his missing brother . [From MangaGamer ]
Kanzaki is member of a criminal organization with an office near sótano. He’s an underling who’s caught Tojo’s eye and acts as his driver. He a rude and aggressive man, who won’t hesitate to use violence. Although he looks quick to start a fight, but he’s actually pretty calm, but on a fundamental level, he doesn’t think before he acts. He went to school with Hiroyuki. They don’t seem quite close enough to be considered friends, though. [From MangaGamer ]
A bright and cheerful woman with some serious guts, and she doesn't shy away from anyone. Her personality has made her a very popular hostess. She was involved in an incident a year ago and left town, but she returned recently to get married. She and Ren get along well as siblings, and Ren thinks the world of his sister. [From MangaGamer ]
Ren is a bartender who started working at sótano a year ago. He may be younger than Hiroyuki, but he has more experience in the business and is a bit more skilled. He’s an introverted young man who’s extremely hard to please and keeps his interaction with customers to a bare minimum. He’s the type to pick fights with people without considering the situation. Presently, he’s absent from work due to injury. [From MangaGamer ]
Kazuki is a sótano regular and writer for a men's true crime tabloid. A delicate man who's difficult to figure out. He seems to have an idea of sótano's unofficial dealings and is treated like he's digging around, looking for material for a story. He’s an unscrupulous man whose hobbies include sex and hitting on women, but ever since he was told that he’d be banned from sótano if he hit on other customers he’s restrained himself. [From MangaGamer ]
Tatsuya is a regular at sótano and a leader of a small, local criminal organization with an office near the bar. At first glance, he looks gentle and businesslike, but he’s a suspicious fellow with the shady air of a Yakuza about him. He has some money invested in a local Italian restaurant, but he makes a big fuss about how rumors of it being a Yakuza hangout would be bad for business, so he frequents sótano instead. He appears to be well acquainted with Maki and Hiroyuki . [From MangaGamer ]

Question about Haru (No, Thank You!!!)
Discuss and share content about Boys' Love visual novels, dating sims and other games focused on male x male romance and sexuality.
So, a few weeks ago I started playing NTY and I was really liking it so far. The premise is fairly interesting and I really liked the interactions between the characters. On the surface, it seemed like everything I've been looking for and more. I mean, how often is it that you see a MC who's a top? And with non-pretty boy LIs? It was a dream come true.
Now, to get to the point. I was actually starting to like Haru! I love how 80% of his dialogue ends in an exclamation mark. He just seemed like such a positively simple guy, and his airheadedness could be pretty funny. Despite my initial reservations, I was enjoying my time with him. That is, until I actually got into the romance (if you could even call it that).
In retrospect, the first red flag was the groping mechanic. It wasn't my cup of tea, but I was willing to overlook it as a silly anime gag. Once I started playing through Hiroyuki's route (bless his heart), however, it finally hit me. Haru is the worst! I know some element of non-con is to be expected in games like this, but something about being on the perpetrating end just makes me feel a bit icky inside. I can't help but feel like an accomplice. And his attitude about it is even worse, as if Hiroyuki is somehow in the wrong for rejecting his advances. The portrayal of rape/non-con in BL has always been a pet peeve of mine, and this seems like it'll only add fuel to the fire.
tl;dr I guess my main question is: does Haru's pushy attitude change at all (in Hiroyuki's route or any of the others)? Should I continue if I'm already put off by it? Were you also bothered by it? Am I just being overly sensitive? I obviously don't expect an answer to all of these questions, but I just want to know if what I'm getting into is worth it.
Omg Hiroyuki and his (in my opinion) god awful fashion- he’s such a sweetie I love him!
Personally, I really loved NTY, but I would definitely agree that it’s not a game for everyone. I had played it right after finishing Room no 9, another Parade title, so I was kind of used to the questionable and to some extent excessive sex scenes already. If I hadn’t come from RN9, I probably would’ve felt similar to you! (But also RN9 was really great not trying to dog it all)
From what I remember, the sex scenes are for the most part range from noncon to dubious con at best (I can think of maybe 1 or 2 that weren’t sketch, but it’s been a few months since my play through, so maybe there’s more not coming to mind- either way it’s primarily sketch behavior taking place).
Despite this, I would recommend you play through at least one route to its entirety (or at the very least the good end). I can’t say much without spoiling things, but i will say this game has a lot more going on than what meets the eye. Playing through a route in full, should give you enough info about the full spectrum of what this game has to offer and it’ll be easier to decide whether to continue or not from that point on!
For me, I found it took a full route before I was really invested and when I got invested the less favorable parts were more a little more palatable.
Thank you for your input! I think you're right. I admit I was a bit hasty to shelve it, but I'll try to give it a fair shot (if not just to see more of Hiroyuki's adorably fugly outfit).
Funnily enough, Room No. 9 was also on my radar, but I figured NTY would be lighter and therefore easier to play through first... Maybe shock therapy is the most effective method after all haha.
I absolutely agree - the full story was so intriguing, I loved it tbh
Non-spoilery answer: no, his pushy attitude doesn't change.
Longer, spoilery answer: Haru is only pretending to have amnesia so he can take a break from his job as an assassin and pretend to be a normal person, and his pushiness is him basically desperately trying to get the other guys to play along with him. There's even a line in (IIRC) Maki's route where he straight up says to himself that he needs Maki to play along so he doesn't feel like a rapist. There's definitely an (intentionally) uncomfortable undertone to all the sex scenes, but I think Haru's more understandable & relatable as a character with that knowledge. Also compared to Hiroyuki, the other guys (especially Ryuu) are more conscious & explicit about the sex being transactional. IMO Hiroshi's the only one who's really in love with Haru, poor bby.
actually the amnesia is partly real, it's only because of it, that Haru has been able to stay 'sane' (if you can call it that) after all the experiments his grandfather has put him through, he forgets most of the bad things
Haru is an incredibly unfortunate and twisted protagonist, he is in no sense a 'normal' person and despite the seemingly light tone the whole story is hella dark.
It all comes to the light only after finishing at least one route and enabling spoiler mode in the options, though.
It took everything in me not to click the spoiler tags... But thanks for at least letting me know there's more to his character. Guess I'll see how things play out before passing further judgment.
Well as the other comments said, the other routes with no spoiler are even worse with Haru pushy attitude, except the glasses guy? don't remember the names at all. So after finishing the route you are in take in consideration that there will be more of that attitude and even worse if i remember well.
No, if you thought that was creepy I have no idea what to say about the other LI routes. I played 2x route and then the 3rd route I gave up since I realized Haru is a terrible person/friend to anyone. I feel like yeah, it made me realize I'm not a fan of this dev's BL games.
FWIW: I read other BL works/dj but the entire experience of being the MC and being out of control with his actions which harmed the LI was an extremely alienating experience.
I really relate to that feeling of being alienated. Imo it just made it a lot harder to sympathize with the MC. I think I'm going to try and complete at least 1 full route, but thanks for answering my question!

The main characters from left to right: Hiroyuki Akiyama, Haru, Ryu Kurosawa, Maki, and Kouichi Inui.
Haru: I may be an idiot, but I have some common sense when it comes to women. I would never touch a woman's boobs right after I met her.
Haru: What's wrong with saying 'Don't die, it'd make me sad'? Are you too embarrassed or something?
Haru: Let me explain! This is an extremely rare specimen which you can tittyfuck and hotdog at the same time, and even penetrate if you want!
