The weapon Raizo favours throughout the movie is the kusarigama, a notoriously difficult weapon to master.
In the hotel, Mika tells Raizo that she doesn't smoke. Later in the movie when Raizo is recovering on the bed, Mika is seen smoking. However, this due to her doing what Raizo had earlier done for her, masking her scent with smoke from a cigarette.
The Warner Bros, Legendary Pictures, Dark Castle and Silver Pictures logos appear from and disappear into darkness, similar to a ninja's shadow-blending ability. They are also completely metallic, with a few streaks of blood.

I had no expectations going into this movie except for a crap load of blood and guts and pure cheese. It delivered that and more. I think I expected a bit of a throwback to the classic 80s ninja movies but it really took it beyond that realm and made into something new and awesome. Director James McTeigue (V For Vendetta) took a simple script and created a serious take on a laughable genre, providing great action scenes that made me actually clap out loud with the rest of the audience - an amazing feat if you consider the lack of any recognizable actors.

Rain worked very hard preparing for the physical aspect of this film, working with stunt and action choreographers Chad Stahelski, Peng Zhang, Jon Valera and Jonathan Eusebio. Ninja Assassin started with the young Raizo who had been raised by the Ozunu Clan as a deadly Ninja assassin, he ran from them after his first kill. Raizo could not run far enough, Lord Ozunu sent ninja assassins to kill him but he always managed with great flair and fighting technique to kill those sent to kill him. He has been living a quiet solitary life, trying to live a normal life his dear friend Kiriko only dreamed of behind the high walls of their hidden compound. A Europol agent Mika Coretti working on a case where money had been funding political executions, the trail led her to discover a possible nest of Ninja trained assassins. Lord Ozunu sends his Ninja’s to Mika’s flat, where not only do the Ninja’s attempt to kill Mika and fail but Raizo intervenes. He teams up with Mika feeling deep inside that she is different from anyone he had ever met reminding him of his childhood friend Kiriko. Raizo swears to protect Mika from the Ninja’s who will not stop coming until they have completed their assignment. Lord Ozunu kills Mika, or does he really; Raizo taps into his inner Ninja and masters the shadow blending technique killing Lord Ozunu as the retreat burns to the ground. Raizo carries Mika’s lifeless body outside, and lays her gently on the ground. A birth defect which places Mika’s heart on the opposite side of where it normally should have been, she lives just as Raizo believed that she was special. She helped him gain his freedom.
