The only weakness I could find on the Nikon 50mm f/1.8G is its distortion, but then the more expensive primes like Nikon 50mm f/1.4G and 50mm f/1.4D also have a moderate amount of visible distortion. Between my work and personal photography gear I shoot with the 35mm 1.8G, 50mm 1.8D & G, 85mm 1.8 D & G and numerous fast zooms like Nikon 17-35mm, Nikon 17-55mm 2.8G, Sigma 17-50 2.8, etc and have a D7000, D7100 and D7200 most recently. While I tend to carry the zooms more for travel and flexibility, the primes are just sharper.
