Proving his preeminent athletic prowess and distinctive style, Jordan closed the 1988/89 season with one of the game’s most notable plays. With 6 seconds left in game 5 against Cleveland, MJ sinks “the shot”, a dexterous, buzzer-beating move that continued to propel MJ along on his awe-inspiring journey.
The Air Jordan IV was the first global market release of the franchise. Another first, the shoe appeared in Spike Lee’s film Do the Right Thing, transcending the game of basketball to make a significant impact on pop culture. All eyes were on Jordan as he continued to rise.
We are sourcing Air Jordans for this landmark catalogue. If you have an Air Jordan IV, help us fill in the gaps.

THE AIR JORDAN IV WAS THE FIRST SHOE IN THE LINE TO FEATURE “OVER-MOLDED” MESH
1989

April 20, 2016 - The Charlotte Hornets are playing in these player exclusive Air Jordan XXX shoes during the playoffs.
July 05, 2021 - For visionary Nike leader Sandy Bodecker, embracing skateboarding was a tacit nod to the sport's power to change the way people view potential. Throughout its history, skateboarding has challenged the status quo. Whether in reimagining empty pools or spotting discrete runs within cityscapes, skateboarders have given fresh life to the built environment — realizing new styles, tricks and techniques along the way. The sport's dynamic evolution has led to inclusion in Tokyo this summer, and even as it reaches a new competitive height, the sport never falters in celebrating the joys of creativity.
Fittingly, the Nike SB Sandy ZoomX Bruin honors Bodecker's vision and skateboarding's verve.
The shoe's engineering drafts from another boundary-pushing Bodecker project, the quest to break the 2-hour marathon barrier and the subsequent invention of NEXT% running technology. Bodecker believed there was application of the idea to skateboarding, and the Nike SB Sandy ZoomX Bruin transfers that belief through athlete-led insight to deliver the most comprehensive skate competition tool imaginable.
At its core is a drop-in midsole combining the ultra-resilient Nike ZoomX foam for cushioning and a full-length carbon fiber plate for pop. It's radical, for sure, but also discretely hidden within the decades-favored classic Bruin silhouette. Another progressive twist, again drawn from Breaking2, is a skateboarding-first Flyknit upper, formed from material that has been custom-printed with Mark Smith's “Blue Sky Dreamer” portrait of Bodecker, which hangs in The Bodecker Foundation space in Portland, Ore.
The Nike SB Sandy ZoomX Bruin will be available in a limited release in Tokyo this summer.
July 01, 2021 - Nike’s Rawdacious colorway palette for Tokyo — a combination of white as a primary, with components of pink blast, total orange and bright crimson — is another example of how Nike uses color to imbue deep cultural, psychological and emotional value in its footwear.
“Color has the nuanced ability to invite both reaction and reflection at once,” says Martha Moore, Nike VP, Central Color Product Design. “You see a color, and you immediately react in a certain way. Color can also open the door to history, connections to other disciplines and to memory. In creating this year’s palette, we worked to consider color holistically to best represent a moment in time.”
Nike designers looked to historical precedent — moments in time when world events put sport on hold — and the spirit that flourished upon its triumphant return. The Rawdacious colorway symbolizes that exuberance of reuniting through sport in the palette's warm tones, signaling new beginnings.
The palette is grounded in a white base to connote unity (it comprises all hues within the visible light spectrum) as well as a return to square one. The layout of colors also act as a beacon to draw attention to the footwear’s technical components. For example, the visible Zoom Air bag in Nike Running silhouettes like the Air Zoom Maxfly sprint spike are highlighted by volt green and bordered and exaggerated by orange detailing. Similar to negative space in art, says Moore, it’s through white space that other parts of the object can sing.
The result is a color system that Moore says instills a deeper meaning for athletes, whether that athlete is running for gold or just around the block.
“Let’s be clear: I’ll never, ever wear a track spike to compete in a race,” says Moore. “But I would wear a lifestyle, color-related model of a spike because something about it spoke to me at a specific time in my life. It was meaningful to the world, and it was meaningful to me. Color can distill all of those values in a millisecond.”
The Rawdacious colorway of select performance and lifestyle products will release on nike.com throughout the summer.

June 29, 2021 - The Zoom Freak 3 is built for creating space through radical downhill angles. The shoe’s tech supports the dominant physicality that defines Giannis Antetokounmpo’s style of play and helps to progress his Euro step, which the power forward uses to warp the distance between his body and the basket.
“One of the hallmarks of his athleticism is transferring energy quickly from leg to leg to maneuver his body through gaps,” says Ross Klein, Sr. Creative Director for Men’s Performance Footwear at Nike. “Giannis works his foot like a gas and brake. He also works all different angles of his foot as he’s driving to the basket, so we wanted to contour the design to fit the way he transitions from step to step.”
To that end, two Zoom Air units under the ball of the foot help absorb energy and provide responsiveness. The set-up is low to the ground, which means the foot is in closer contact with the floor, leading to tight control for searing downhill attacks. The engineered upper helps keep Antetokounmpo’s foot contained, while the strap helps lock down the forefoot, making sure his center of gravity won’t slide over the footbed. The outsole takes inspiration from one of Nike basketball’s most recognizable traction patterns.
The black and purple Project 34 colorway and the orange Freak colorway of the Zoom Freak 3 releases globally July 1 and in North America in August.

June 17, 2021 - This fall’s Air Jordan retro preview is headlined by the return of the OG Air Jordan XI Low IE in red and black, a variation renowned for its seasonal adaptation through material updates — and for its appearance during the ’96 playoffs. Similarly, four women’s exclusive styles for this season feature revised color palettes and material choices for new, energized interpretations of classic models.
Air Jordan XI Low IE
A final chapter of the 25th anniversary of the Air Jordan XI, the OG black and red Air Jordan XI Low IE returns, re-engineered to the exact 1995 specs. The model features a genuine leather and mesh upper, molded sock liner and an exposed carbon fiber shank plate contrasted by the recognizable herringbone rubber outsole. The shoe arrives in OG packaging.
Women’s Air Jordan I Hi OG
Inspired by the calming colors of sage, this women’s exclusive style features soft, tumbled leather with premium nubuck overlays. Completing the look is a subtle, two-toned lace inspired by the string used to tie bundles of sage. The shoe also comes with a hangtag and two extra sets of laces.
Women’s Air Jordan IV
This women’s exclusive style takes inspiration from varying neutral shades of makeup. This model is highlighted by buttery soft nubuck overlays and burnished leather meant to age and sheen naturally with time. The shoe also features transparent TPU wings and lace locks and is topped off by metallic, electroplated Jumpman branding on the tongue, reminiscent of the mirrors used in makeup palettes.
Women’s Air Jordan VI
Taking inspiration from gold earrings, this women’s exclusive adds interconnected gold hoops that are attached to the shoe’s Air Jordan VI lace toggle. Materials on this model include white medium grain tumbled leather with gold underlays, a semi-gloss lining and a milky-white translucent rubber outsole.
Women’s Air Jordan XIV Low
The women’s exclusive style features a color palette inspired by red lipstick. Materials like matte nubuck and suede leather provide the cosmetic base against metallic silver accents, while OG elements include the tongue and the laces with frosted-platinum aglets. The writing on the sockliner is modeled after strokes of lipstick; the shoe arrives in lipstick-stained tissue paper.
Air Jordan I HI OG
Employing a fresh, seasonal color scheme, this Air Jordan I HI OG features a genuine black leather upper with premium Pollen leather overlays and detailing atop a white midsole and a Pollen rubber outsole. The shoe comes with new packaging and will be available in full family and extended women's sizing.
Air Jordan I HI OG
This new take on the Air Jordan I HI OG involves crafted leather and nubuck overlays with hits of reflective silver throughout. With a perforated collar, this model can be customized both into a high or low top. Applying a fresh color scheme to both the shoe and packaging, this release comes in full family and extended sizing for women.
Air Jordan I HI OG
Another seasonal iteration of the Air Jordan I HI OG, this fall model uses an Electro Orange, black and white color scheme with updated color blocking. Made with premium, genuine leather, the shoe is highlighted by a metallic finish on the collar. The shoe also releases in full family and extended sizing for women.
Air Jordan III Retro
Applying a familiar color and color-blocking scheme, this Air Jordan III Retro comes with a subtle material twist. The shoe features premium leather and a new reflective material on the iconic elephant print on the heel and toe. This model, which will come in new packaging, releases in full-family sizing.
Air Jordan V Retro
This fresh spin on the Air Jordan V applies a mixture of materials from genuine leathers to exposed foam and textiles. The shoe’s collar, quarter panel and tongue bottom are layered with textile mesh, while the tongue maintains its OG reflective finish. The model is accented by black-tinted eyelets and a transparent lace lock and is completed by a matte-finished midsole and a muslin-tinted rubber outsole.
Air Jordan VI
Continuing the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Air Jordan VI, this new iteration of the Retro model is inspired by the iconic Air Jordan VII Bordeaux colorway. True to the Air Jordan VI’s original specs, this model employs a genuine nubuck upper with a Bordeaux-printed translucent tongue and sock liner. Coming in familiar packaging with a fresh color twist, this shoe releases in Men’s and GS sizing.
Air Jordan XII Retro
Putting a new, clean twist on the Air Jordan XII, this model applies hits of metallic red throughout an all-white upper and midsole. The shoe features genuine leather, complemented by the OG faux-lizard print mudguard. This offering comes with OG packaging and will release in full-family sizing.
Air Jordan XII
The model combines a Nike Grind outsole, made with at least 3% Nike Grind, with a ballistic mesh tongue. The shoe also applies genuine leather to the upper and suede to the midsole atop the faux-lizard print mudguard. The shoe releases in full-family sizing.
Air Jordan XIII Retro
This retro combines a familiar Obsidian colorway with classic, OG materials, true to form with a leather upper, textile tongue bottom and cat-eye hologram. This model arrives in OG packaging and in full-family sizing.

June 01, 2021 - Ahead of the virtual Puerto Rican Day parade, one of New York City's biggest cultural moments, the institutional Air Max 97 OG "Silver Bullet" is the canvas for a special Puerto Rican colorway, symbolizing the permanence of Nuyorican heritage and culture in the city.
The Puerto Rican flag appears on the tongue and on the Air-Sole bubble as an emblematic symbol of national pride. The Air-Sole unit helps provide lift and comfort in the same ways Puerto Rican culture has vitalized the city for generations. Colors from the Puerto Rican flag accent areas like the sock liner and the embroidery on the midfoot.
The phrase "Aquí Me Quedo," translated to "I’ll Stay Here," is printed on the insole, a message reflecting the community’s historically strong connection to New York City.
The Air Max 97 "Puerto Rico" and a commemorative T-shirt release beginning June 5 on SNKRS and at select retailers.

June 01, 2021 - After forgoing the 2020 WNBA season to focus her attention on fighting for social justice, Washington Mystics guard Natasha Cloud will wear the Converse All Star BB Evo — and she’ll do so in a “Petal to the Metal” PE, Converse’s first PE with a WNBA player.

The colorway is inspired by Cloud’s rose tattoo, the symbol appearing on the lateral side of each heel. Illustrated by blushes of Pink Foam, Chambray Blue and Spring Green, the colorway is rooted in the idea of community coming together to inspire new beginnings.

“I wanted the shoe to signify looking to new horizons, collective growth and regenerating oneself,” Cloud says.

The Converse All Star BB Evo made its debut in July 2020. Its Nike React drop-in midsole offers low profile, responsive cushioning to complement its thin, wrap-cup outsole that maximizes traction.
The Converse All Star BB Evo “Petal to The Metal” PE releases globally June 3 on converse.com and at select retailers.

May 19, 2021 - In March 2020, Converse welcomed 3-time NBA Champion Draymond Green to its growing roster of ambassadors. Debuting soon after was the Converse G4, serving Green’s tenacious defensive motor thanks to Nike React foam technology in the heel and Nike Zoom in the forefoot. Draymond's swarming defensive play inspires his Converse G4 “Hyper Swarm” PE.
The G4’s gold color scheme peels back the inner workings of a beehive, an ode to Green’s tough-minded, rallying leadership style that includes his resolve to shut down any opposing player, no matter the position. Additional design details include a gum outsole along with a bee swarm graphic visible on each sockliner.
Draymond's Top 5 Qualities for an Elite Defensive Team (or, how to separate an average defensive team from a transcendent one)
“This is number one for me. Because there’s so much talent in the NBA, you’re not allowed to make mistakes, or else teams will capitalize on it. Average teams will beat themselves, but great teams force you to beat them. Teams like that figure out how to gameplan discipline into the DNA of their franchise.”
“I don’t think there are a lot of great defenders in this league. It’s not because players aren’t capable. It’s because players don’t care. We all know the pretty side of the game, the guys who drop 40 a night, but the reality is that, if you want to win, you have to care on the other side of the ball.”
“If you and your teammates aren’t on the same page, there’s already too much room for error. You’re guessing. Say an offensive player is coming to set a ball screen and he slips out, but you don’t communicate. Now, you’ve got two guys on the ball, and you’re at a disadvantage.”
“A lot of players in the league know how to manipulate the game to get to the foul line. When the other team gets to the line, they have time to get back and set up their defense. I don’t care how good your offense is. If you’re playing against a set defense each and every possession, they’ll be tough to beat. Even the worst teams can set up their defensive rotations and guard the initial action when they have the time. When you avoid foul trouble, you dare teams to beat the second and third layer of your offense, because they’re scrambling. That’s when opposing teams will experience defensive breakdowns and quit.”
“One of the most important parts of defense is finishing the possession. How do you do that? You get a steal, you secure a blocked shot, or you rebound the misses. You might make a defensive stand for 24 seconds. If you let the other team get an offensive board and they get 14 seconds back, all of a sudden, you’re guarding closer to 40 seconds. Doing that over and over again gets exhausting. Elite defense means you finish what you start."
The Converse x Draymond Green G4 “Hyper Swarm” PE will soon be available in a limited global release on Converse.com and at select global retailers.

May 13, 2021 - London-born artist Skepta applies his creative vision to the world of football through the Nike Phantom x Skepta boot. The release corresponds with a second, the “Bloody Chrome” colorway, of the Nike Air Max Tailwind V x Skepta and further extends his on-going relationship with the Swoosh.
The first music artist to collaborate with Nike on a performance football boot, Skepta has created a Phantom boot that sits proudly alongside its Air Max counterpart.
The two silhouettes share a wealth of design details — the red butterfly print applied to the uppers continues Skepta’s exploration of creative metamorphosis, while the chrome Swooshes and soleplate on the Phantom are inspired by the silver jewelry that’s an integral part of Skepta’s style. As on the previous Tailwind V x Skepta, the heels of both the red Phantom and the Air Max feature a subtle iridescent material as an eye-catching nod to the thermographic cover art of Skepta’s 2019 album “Ignorance Is Bliss.”
Reflecting on his own footballing experiences, Skepta says, “I love the pressure when you call for the ball. When they pass it to you, you become the sole director of the next move for the team. You’ve got a split second to decide, ‘is it good for me to keep this and show what I’m about or is it good to pass it and show that I’m thinking about all the players on the pitch?’”
Presenting the Phantom and the Nike Air Tailwind V together creates a full-circle view of Skepta's community-centered mentality.
“I love the culture around football as much as the game; I'm really into the culture of football jerseys for what they represent. They represent ‘team,’” he says. “Going to matches is sick too. When you go to a match, you experience live people, live audio, all the things that the TV might miss ...you really feel it more than see it or hear it when you're there.”
The Nike Phantom x Skepta and “Bloody Chrome” Nike Tailwind V x Skepta release June 12.
May 10, 2021 - Highlighting more creative applications through circular design is the summer 2021 Nike Flyleather collection, which includes an Air Force 1 and the Blazer Low in whimsical upper treatments from Tokyo-born artist Mayumi Yamase. The uppers, made with at least 50 percent recycled leather fibers, are chara
