Nightmare Moon is a G4 Pegasus Unicorn pony. She is the former villainous alter ego of Princess Luna .

Nightmare Moon is an evil entity that arose after Princess Luna was transformed by jealousy and bitterness. Luna had noticed that the ponies she and her sister, Princess Celestia , ruled over played all day but shunned the night. After transforming into Nightmare Moon, the evil mare attempted to bring about eternal night. However, Celestia used the Elements of Harmony to imprison Nightmare Moon into the moon. 1000 years later, Nightmare Moon would be released, and arrived in Ponyville to once again bring about eternal night. However, Nightmare Moon would be defeated once and for all when Twilight Sparkle and her friends collectively wielded the Elements of Harmony against her. The Elements purged the evil and reverted Luna to her true form.

Nightmare Moon was able to use both illusion and shape-shifting powers against her perceived enemies. Her attempt to bring about eternal night pays homage to Tirek 's plan in the first My Little Pony Special . In the episode, " Luna Eclipsed ", it is revealed that a holiday, Nightmare Night, revolves around Nightmare Moon, with young ponies wearing costumes and collecting candy, with the goal of offering them to a statue of Nightmare Moon to keep her from gobbling them up.

Nightmare Moon was included in the first edition of the favorites collection as a Brushable Figure. Her mold is based on the one used for Princess Celestia , and has a glittery cutie mark. Other ponies in the set included:

Nightmare Moon was released as a talking toy, similar to Princess Celestia and Princess Cadance . She said various phrases when you pressed a button near her cutie mark, and included a comb and four barrettes.

Nightmare Moon was included as a Blind Bag Figurine in the Elements of Harmony Friends Set, alongside Fluttershy , Rarity , Manny Roar , and Steven Magnet . Nightmare Moon's figurine is a recolor of the standard Alicorn Figurine used for Luna, Celestia, and Princess Cadance . Fluttershy uses a newer, more show accurate mold instead of the earlier repaints of Rainbow Dash .

RARITY shows generosity to the sea serpent, and FLUTTERSHY shows kindness to the manticore. These Elements of Harmony help defeat NIGHTMARE MOON!

My grandchild wanted it and asked for it every day. Beautifully made. Vinyl. Sharp pointed unicorn horn dangerous for kids. Costs $90. It was delayed. Took 12 days to arrive through USPS. Went through 7 postal facilities in several states. I had to call Amazon and the post office. UNACCEPTABLE. Should be delivered by UPS or FEDEX.

Cool figure, looks great! Also bigger than I thought it would be. Comes in a really nice box. It's also a lot sturdier and well made than I thought it would be. Well worth the purchase.

I love it and the box is awesome too

Ahh, so now we have the backstory for the Nightmare Moon comic arc. It was ok, Possession stories are all well and intriguing plots. But with Luna, I feel it destroyed that part of her character. Instead of having her being this good person that ultimately fell to her own jealousy and hatred, they made her an innocent victim of an alien entity that manifested itself into a seperate persona, aka Nightmare Moon. Luna on the show is a reformed villain, trying to re-establish her role as guardian of

The comics seems play favorites with Luna, refusing to acknowledge that a character that popular ever had the ability to turn bad on her own. Again, not as excellent as it COULD be, but not terrible..

This story was good, and luckily it skipped the how she became Nightmare Moon part, since we already know this story, but it feels incomplete in the way it left off. Yes, we know she becomes Luna again, but there are enough questions not answered it is odd the next story will have nothing to do with this at all.

Very cool, and very awesome art, just like the other My Little Pony comic Fleecs did the art for. Nightmare Moon is so classy, and those little dream guys are adorable! Doran is so cute and makes me laugh with her fabulous hair skills. I felt so bad for her. Hope she's okay.

The ponies' dreams are created by Carebears which Nightmare Moon manipulates. Story is kinda shallow compared to #1 - still enjoyable though.
