PRIVACY POLICY

App: Nightden

This Privacy Policy explains what information the Nightden mobile application

("Nightden", "the app", "we", "us") collects, how it is used, and the choices you

have. By using the app you agree to the practices described below.

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Device identifier (Advertising ID).

The app collects your device's advertising identifier. It is used only for

analytics — to understand, in aggregate, how the app is used and performs so we

can improve it. This identifier is processed ephemerally: it is used in memory

to generate analytics and is not built into a lasting profile of you.

We do NOT collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location,

contacts, or any other personal or sensitive information.

2. INFORMATION STORED ONLY ON YOUR DEVICE

Everything you create in the app stays on your device and is not uploaded to us:

 - your Sightings (species, date, free-text location, optional notes);

 - any photos you attach to a sighting (kept in the app's private storage);

 - your preferences (preferred region, sound on/off).

You can remove this data at any time from within the app (Settings → Reset

Sightings, and Clear Image Cache), or by uninstalling the app.

3. THIRD-PARTY CONTENT REQUESTS

To show species photographs and play wildlife calls, the app requests content at

runtime from public sources:

 - species photos from Wikimedia Commons;

 - wildlife call recordings from iNaturalist.

Like any request to an online service, these requests include standard technical

information (such as your device's IP address and a generic app user-agent). We

do not control these third parties; their handling of such requests is governed

by their own policies.

4. HOW WE USE INFORMATION

We use the limited information described above only to:

 - operate and provide the app's features;

 - measure and improve app performance and reliability through analytics.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

5. DATA RETENTION AND DELETION

The app does not provide a separate manual request process for deletion because

it does not build lasting user profiles. Any data associated with the advertising

identifier is automatically deleted within 90 days. Data stored on your device is

removed when you reset it in the app or uninstall the app.

6. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Nightden is not directed to children under 13 and is intended for users aged 13

and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you

believe a child has used the app, remove the app to clear its on-device data.

7. YOUR CHOICES

 - You can reset or delete your advertising identifier at any time in your

  device settings (Settings → Privacy / Google → Ads), and you can opt out of

  ad personalization there.

 - You can clear all of your in-app content from Settings inside the app.

8. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be

reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app

after an update means you accept the revised policy.
