Night Lovell’s name is made up of Lovell, his father’s middle name, and Night, which comes from fact that he only records at night and finds he is the most productive in the darkness and silence that the night time brings. In an interview with The FADER he said:
I just feel like it’s a more vulnerable time of the day. That’s when people’s darkest secrets come out. It’s just a really personal time, so I feel like when I make music at that time it kind of sounds different.
On December 21, 2014 he released his debut album named Concept Vague . Later on his second album Red Teenage Melody was released on June 13, 2016. In summer 2018 he revealed the name of his third album GOODNIGHT LOVELL , which was released on February 22nd, 2019.
I’m just talking about how like if I get too lost in whatever I’m doing, I might do that shit, which is obviously the worst thing to do. And I don’t want to, but if that were to happen, that just shows how I lost trust in myself, because I switched up on like my day-one friends and shit.
To be honest, I made this song a while ago. I don’t think people really realize I wrote this like a year and a half ago. We were on a little tour, and we were in this Sprinter. We were driving through Detroit or some shit, and someone sent me the beat, and I just got the inspiration to write those lyrics. I just started writing. That’s how it came about.

Album Rating: 3.5 That Yachty and Uzi slander was really unnecessary fam. Not even saying that just because I'm a fan of them, your personal opinions on them distracted from the otherwise good writing here.
"While piss-poor aesthetes like Lil Yachty"

Album Rating: 3.5 Can anyone really argue that Lil Yachty and Uzi are good "lyrical" rappers? Or that their music outstrips and is prioritized over their aesthetics? I don't think so. And it's worth comparing them to Lovell because they're all Soundcloud-originating trap-rappers of similar/same age and influence. To not compare them would be to deny Lovell his contemporaries and give the Lil duo carte blanche to continue being terrible. It's worth noting that they're not all that great, relatively and absolutely speaking.
