Pussycat Dolls singer and The Masked Singer judge Nicole Scherzinger is the latest celebrity to be victim of a leaked intimate video.
The Sun reports that the two-and-a-half minute video, which shows Scherzinger and ex Lewis Hamilton in bed, was leaked by hackers and has been viewed more than 286,000 times. She reportedly took legal action to have the video removed from the Internet.
"Nicole will be heartbroken that such footage has found its way online. It was never intended for the public domain," a source told the British news outlet.
Scherzinger and Hamilton, a Formula One World Champion racing driver, dated on and off from 2007 until officially calling it off in 2015.
"Nicole wants it down. It's hugely embarrassing and distressing for her to have something this intimate and private out there," the source said, adding that the 40-year-old singer is worried more photos or videos could surface. "Nicole's very worried that more videos and pictures will be leaked in the next couple of days."
"She feels hugely violated that someone's been looking through her private pictures and is concerned this is just the start of a nightmare. She's particularly worried as she deleted that video a long time ago, so it must have been hacked from the Cloud," the insider told The Sun .
Since the split, Hamilton has been linked to Nicki Minaj , Kendall Jenner , Rita Ora , Barbara Palvin, Rihanna and Winnie Harlow. Scherzinger dated tennis player Grigor Dimitrov from 2016 to 2018.
Scherzinger was reportedly axed as a judge on The X Factor last year after The Sun reported that show producer and fellow judge Simon Cowell was trying to do a massive overhaul of the show to try and bring in a younger demographic.
"Nicole was a passionate judge but has no contract and won't be back this year in order to bring in fresh blood," a source told the publication at the time.
Scherzinger had previously voiced her frustration with Cowell's last-minute decisions on the judging panel. While speaking with The Sunday Mirror , she explained that the judges don't find out if their contract has been renewed often until the month filming is set to begin.
"Simon is so f—ing last minute we know in the same month that he announces it. We'll see what happens," she said at the time.
Since then, she's secured a spot as a judge on the new FOX singing competition The Masked Singer , which was renewed for a second season and is a week away from unveiling its season 1 champion and remaining celebrities behind their masks.
Last month, Scherzinger said that the show is "therapeutic" for the mystery celebrity participants.
"The mask gives them the courage to reveal other parts of themselves they've never gotten to share," she told Us Weekly . "When you're trying to figure it out, that's where you have a lot of twists and turns. It's very transformative for some people and very therapeutic, I think, for the contestant."
The finale episode of The Masked Singer will air Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET on FOX .

The private and intimate home video featuring the former couple was reportedly not intended for the 'public domain'.

A private home video of Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton and his former girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger kissing and cuddling while lying on a bed together was leaked online and publicized by hackers.
The mobile video clip shows the ex-couple, who split in 2015, sharing an intimate moment on a bed. As reported by the Sun , the clip has been viewed around 286,000 times since being shared. A source shared, "Nicole will be heartbroken that such footage has found its way online." The 40-year-old former 'X Factor' judge and 32-year-old Lewis' home video was reportedly not intended for the "public domain".
The pair had a very tumultuous relationship and broke up for the fourth and last time in 2015. Then in 2016, she seemed to be happily dating Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov. The ex-Pussycat Dolls star and the sportstar had met in 2015, then they were merely supportive of each other because of their busy careers. However, later on, they took their relationship further.
When it came to Lewis, he supposedly had a tough time getting over Nicole as reports in the DailyMail suggested. The report spoke of Veronica Valle, 26, who claims to have had a brief romance with the Formula One ace six months after his break-up from the former Pussycat Doll. Vanessa also alleged that the Formula One ace 'became obsessed with the idea of threesomes' after parting ways with Nicole.
Veronica claimed Nicole ended things because he wasn't ready to propose even after eight years. She remarked: 'I was so embarrassed - nothing happened. But I think he was just joking about threesomes. As far as I’m aware he never actually had any.'
Veronica also said that he made a series of damning remarks at his famous ex. "He said he comes in and writes his own music – but she only had someone hand her a piece of paper and say, "Sing this". He said, "She used to come in here and criticize me". He called her all the names under the sun," she claimed.
Several famous actors, musicians, and athletes have been the victims of hackings. Some of these celebrities' cell phones were hacked, while others had their iCloud accounts hacked.
In March 2017, a wave of celebs became victims of phone hacks when naked pics and private pictures of some Hollywood actresses were leaked online. In August 2017, the celebrity hacking scandal dubbed as "The Fappening 3.0" leaked nude photos of Kristen Stewart, Miley Cyrus and more. Nicole and Lewis' private photos are now the latest addition to the list.

Last weekend, an intimate video of Pussycat Dolls frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger and her ex-boyfriend Lewis Hamilton was leaked. In the video, which is suspected to have been leaked by hackers , the couple — who split in 2015 — can be seen kissing and cuddling in bed. And while it's relatively tame in the grand scheme of leaked celebrity videos, that doesn't diminish what has happened to her. Because while Scherzinger's case highlights the blurry space that sexual violence in the digital age occupies, make no mistake: What happened to her is not only a gross invasion of privacy, but sexual violence — plain and simple.
According to The Sun , she's instructed her lawyers to take the video down, as a source close to Scherzinger says the singer "feels hugely violated."
"It's hugely embarrassing and distressing for her to have something this intimate and private out there," the source also said. "Nicole's very worried that more videos and pictures will be leaked in the next couple of days." Obviously, she's right to feel this way, as actions like these are reflective of the way aggressive male sexuality is consistently forced upon women — expected to be nothing more than sexual objects to be masturbated to. But it's also a harmful practice that, were it translated into the real world (i.e. peeping toms), would be considered a grave sexual offense. So why hasn't the law caught up?
It's no secret that it takes the law a while to deal with technological advancements and contemporary Internet happenings. However, cases like Scherzinger's highlight the loopholes that technicalities and discrepancies in the law create. In fact, as Dr. Debarati Halder, the Managing Director of the Center For Cyber Victim Counseling, explains, Scherzinger and her lawyers have a case that could be considered "non-consensual porn" — though prosecution will prove difficult.
That said, an overt lack of media concern regarding her case has also highlighted another disturbing trend. In comparison to coverage of similar scandals such as The Fappening , Scherzinger's case has remained remarkably under-the-radar, despite the seriousness of these alleged crimes.
Though Scherzinger's video may not technically count as a sex tape, that doesn't mean we should be taking this case any less seriously — especially given the prevalence of violations of this ilk. After all, to have the fear of more videos and photos potentially leaking be held over your head is sickening, but it's also something that millions of people are unduly affected by in the digital age, whether they be internationally renowned celebrities or victims of revenge porn.
Frankly, the "it's not that bad" rhetoric is toxic to begin with and has inklings of rape apology and minimization. Not only does Scherzinger's case pose a big question when it comes to privacy law, but it also feeds into the idea that we are entitled to the nudes of these celebrities. Which, spoiler alert, we most definitely are not. Not only that, but it also poses a bigger and more serious question: When did we allow ourselves to become so desensitized to crimes like this?
Dr. Halder theorizes that a spate of high-profile online privacy invasions — such as the Facebook Cambridge Analytica case — have made instances like Scherzinger's feel "lesser." Obviously, it's anything but, but as Dr. Halder says, the "high impact factor" of something like The Fappening is now gone. Why? Well, it's almost as if we expect something like this to happen, especially when it comes to famous women — and that's an even bigger issue.
And though she says the public's desensitization doesn't mean cases like this should receive less legal attention, Dr. Halder notes that people now perceive violations like this as "nothing new." As a result, less thought is put into aiding people like Scherzinger, as well as the millions of people in similar situations who don't have the resources to hire a powerful legal team.
So what's the solution? Perhaps it's to broaden our reach when it comes to prosecuting privacy violations such as these. Because while the spotlight tends to land on the hackers themselves, the companies who allowed the data theft to occur in the first place tend to face relatively less scrutiny — at least in the eyes of the law.
"Now it's time that web companies, cloud servers, etc. [are] made strictly liable for not providing proper security for the data," Dr. Halder suggests. "If the victim claims that the images were already deleted, the cloud servers must not store them without the consent of the owners." And she's right. After all, the implications of Scherzinger's case go well beyond just her leak, and we should be diligent when it comes to prosecuting these crimes from all angles. Just think about it, next time, it could be you.
