Even though there are just 18 weeks in the regular season with a maximum of 16 games per week, NFL betting is easily the most popular North American sports wager. NFL point spreads and season win total prop bets are one of the few in the major sports that are openly discussed by announcers and fans alike. Because of betting, and the popularity of fantasy football, every single game of the NFL season is important, widely discussed, analyzed, and a great opportunity to get in on the action with our free NFL expert picks.
There’s almost an infinite way to bet on the NFL, from NFL picks against the spread, over/under, Parlays, Prop Bets, daily fantasy sports, or even scoreboard squares, there is a wager type for every kind of football fan. Some bettors like to specialize in a single particular type of NFL pick, while others like to be diverse and wager as many ways as they can on a game. Both types of players can be successful with a disciplined and calculated strategy which is the great thing about NFL betting.
The most popular way to bet on the NFL is against the spread (ATS). With these wagers, you are not picking a simple winner or loser of a game. Instead, ATS betting is placing your money that Team A wins by a certain amount of points (Philadelphia -7 for example) or that Team B will keep the game closer than oddsmakers expect (Chicago +3.5). The great thing about ATS NFL betting is that the team you wager on can lose outright, but your bet can still be a winner (a Chicago 17-20 loss). Our NFL picks against the spread are our most popular bet on site, and the game lines are widely discussed by sport shows and experts in the lead-up to matches. A fun stat worth noting is that the team that covers the spread wins the game outright around 80% of the time.
When you aren’t 100% confident in which team is going to win in an NFL game, or would rather wager on the game, rather than a team, another exciting way to still get in on the action is with totals wagers. In these bets you don’t take a side, but whether the two teams will combine to score over or under the total number of points that the oddsmakers have set. This is why last-second field goals in 24 point blowouts are still edge-of-your-seat moments as they can push the total over or under the set line. We preview every game of the NFL season, providing expert insight into the game alongside NFL picks which will always include a pick on the over/under market in each game of the NFL season.
Ask any seasoned NFL bettor and they’ll tell you that ATS betting is exciting, but can also be frustrating. It is important to keep in mind that NFL teams are only looking to win by one, of course, they’d love to win by more, but they’ll change their schemes late on to secure a win, not to ensure they cover the spread.

Your research could have given you the right side, but if they win by 6 instead of 7 your -6.5 bet is a loss. Therefore a lot of wagerers enjoy money line (ML) NFL expert picks. The best way to describe ML bets is that you simply wager on either a winner or loser with no spread involved. If you’re confident in an underdog, ML bets are also a great way to increase your profits. If a team is +10 ATS, for example, they may be upwards of +350 on the money line to win outright meaning a $100 bet would pay you $350.
Big offseason changes now see the 2021/22 NFL season Schedule move to 17 regular-season games for the first time. It’s been years in the pipeline that the NFL will seek to expand the regular season, and 2021/22 will be the first 17-game season, following the expansion of the playoffs in 2020/21.
The 2021 NFL season will be the 102nd in league history and is set to kick off with the NFL Kick-Off game on September 9th, hosted by the defending Super Bowl Champions Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The 2021/22 regular season will come to a conclusion on January 9th, 2022 with the NFL Playoffs scheduled to begin the following weekend on the 15th & 16th January 2022.

Super Bowl LVI is scheduled for February 13th, at SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, California, which is the shared home of both the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers.

Some sites solely focus on the marquee games of an NFL slate but our system features expert picks for every game of the NFL season. The best way to have success in NFL betting is by finding those under-the-radar games like Miami at Jacksonville that do not draw as much public betting interest as Dallas vs. Green Bay. Our expert handicappers spend just as long researching the under-the-radar games, as they do for Thursday Night Football or Primetime Football games. Our NFL picks this week are the best ways to get a breakdown and a reading of all the games on an NFL slate, with a complete game preview alongside our best NFL picks for each game.
Throughout the NFL season, we also give you free long-term, often season-long picks such as our NFL Futures Bets, which include both team-based and individual player prop bets. Not only do we publish our previews and picks for every game of the NFL regular season but we do the same for the playoffs as well. There’s a lot of money to be made in the relatively short NFL season – why not make the most of it? The stakes in the NFL playoffs are even higher and the margins between the teams are usually even smaller. With more on the line and the best against the best, the hours of research and analysis our NFL experts put in are at even more of a premium. Follow our NFL playoff picks throughout the entire NFL postseason, right through to the Super Bowl itself.
We also specialize in every major North American sport including the MLB, NBA, NHL, and College Football, and College Basketball. Check out our site every single day for some of the best bets in every major athletic contest and make sure to follow us on social media as well.
Here at Pickswise our expert NFL handicappers are on hand all season long with the best free picks each week. Our weekly NFL picks will include our top plays against the spread, on the totals and straight up on the money line. Check out each weeks’ NFL picks below.

With Week 1 of the 2021 NFL preseason upon us, what are our picks and predictions for all 16 games this week? Let’s take a look at how we think this week’s games will go, including our picks and predictions against the spreads.
Week 1 of the preseason is perhaps the most challenging week of any to make picks and predictions for. How much will starters play? Will coaches try out new elements of their offense or defense? Therefore, we must urge that you exercise caution this week. Some games have clear scripts that appear as though they will be followed, but in the preseason, things can be even wilder than the NFL season.

Here are the preseason Week 1 betting lines and NFL odds for Thursday’s games as of 5:15 PM ET on August 12.
Time and Channel: 7:30 PM ET, NFL Network
This is an incredibly tough game to kick off our NFL preseason picks and predictions as we could see both teams put out strong units on both sides of the ball. The reason for that is both sides have questions over who will be their starting QB.
Thus, we could see both sides play their starters further into the game to test both quarterback options fully. Additionally, each team has a strong defensive unit, both in terms of top-end talent and depth.
NFL Preseason Week 1 Picks and Predictions: Washington 20, Patriots 17
Time and Channel: 7:30 PM ET, Local
There is going to be a common theme this preseason in that we may see the Steelers utilize their first-team units more than their opponents. The Steelers have major question marks around their offensive line and their depth on defense, meaning they may keep those units in the game longer.
In contrast, the Eagles will protect the slightly older right side of their offensive line. Furthermore, on defense, they have a much more set unit from the outside. We should see the Eagles throttle back first in this game.
NFL Preseason Week 1 Picks and Predictions: Steelers 20, Eagles 13
Here are the NFL preseason Week 1 betting lines and odds for Friday’s games as of 5:15 PM ET on August 12.
A somewhat strange twist of fate sees Arthur Smith facing his former team in his first game as an NFL head coach. There might be a little bit of friendly rivalry on both sides in this, especially with Julio Jones returning to Atlanta.
Expect to see both teams remove their starters early, especially on offense. The Falcons may give their starters on the offensive line and their defense a touch more time due to the uncertainty there.
NFL Preseason Week 1 Picks and Predictions: Falcons 20, Titans 10
Time and Channel: 7 PM ET, NFL Network
There is a very small chance we see much of the Bills’ starters in this game. They have nothing to figure out as a team, so there is no need to risk their key players. Meanwhile, the Lions have a lot to figure out this offseason. That could be the difference here.
NFL Preseason Week 1 Picks and Predictions: Lions 23, Bills 10
Time and Channel: 10 PM ET, NFL Network
This could be a game that is dominated by the stars on the defensive side of the ball. Dak Prescott is not going to be on the field, and Kyler Murray will play, but perhaps not for long. Meanwhile, both teams have young players on defense who they will want to get acclimated. Look for a low-scoring game, with the Cardinals perhaps having a boost early with their starting QB on the field.
NFL Preseason Week 1 Picks and Predictions: Cardinals 17, Cowboys 6
Here are the NFL preseason Week 1 betting lines and odds for Saturday’s games as of 5:15 PM ET on August 12.
Time and Channel: 1 PM ET, NFL Network
There is a lot for the Bears to figure out this offseason. They have three QBs fighting for one spot and a new offensive line to get settled. All of that should mean we see a very competitive Bears team.
On the other hand, the Dolphins also have questions on their offensive line and a new look group at wide receiver. Concurrently, both teams are pretty set on defense. All of this could mean we see a game with plenty of offense.
NFL Preseason Week 1 Picks and Predictions: Bears 23, Dolphins 20
Time and Channel: 4 PM ET, NFL Network
This is a fascinating game for many reasons. The Vikings’ offense and the Broncos’ defense have little to figure out among their starters. Therefore, we could see both teams turn to their second units.
However, on the other side of both teams, there are question marks. The Vikings’ defense has a lot to figure out, while Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater are fighting for a starting role in Denver. This game will certainly be more interesting when the Broncos’ offense is on the field.
NFL Preseason Week 1 Picks and Predictions: Broncos 20, Vikings 14
Time and Channel: 7 PM ET, NFL Network
This one feels like a mismatch in terms of what teams have to play for. The Browns have very little to figure out, especially on offense. Meanwhile, the Jaguars have a very new-looking squad with a lot to work out. The motivations in this contest among the top-end players are likely to be very different.
NFL Preseason Week 1 Picks and Predictions: Jaguars 24, Browns 10
Much like with the Broncos-Vikings game, this could be a matchup of two halves. The Saints have a lot to figure out on offense, while the Ravens have things to figure out on defense. The Ravens’ offense has few unknowns, and they should hesitate to overexpose Lamar Jackson. The Saints have a little more to unravel, especially in their front seven. That could be the difference in this game.
NFL Preseason Week 1 Picks and Predictions: Saints 24, Ravens 13
Time and Channel: 7:30 PM ET, Local
The Jets have so much more to discover about themselves in this game. Zach Wilson should see a decent amount of playing time, and there is a lot to work out on the offensive line and in the run game. Defensively, the Jets also have a lot of question marks, with a defensive-minded head coach trying to introduce his scheme.
On the flip side, the Giants appear pretty established. They have the same coaching staff returning and several similar players. The Jets should have a major advantage here.
NFL Preseason Week 1 Picks and Predictions: Jets 17, Giants 13
Time and Channel: 7:30 PM ET, Local
Bruce Arians has made it clear that his starters will see time in the preseason. That is a somewhat scary thought for a Bengals team looking to ease themselves back into on-field action. If the Buccaneers are going to have their best pass rushers on the field for an extended period of time, then exposing Joe Burrow for more than a handful of snaps does not make a lot of sense.
NFL Preseason Week 1 Picks and Predictions: Buccaneers 24, Bengals 9
The Texans are in a peculiar situation after a messy offseason, while the Packers now appear to have some harmony. The expectation would be that we do not see much of the Packers’ starters. But the Texans have a lot to figure out and could play something close to their Week 1 starting lineup for the majority of the first half.
NFL Preseason Week 1 Picks and Predictions: Texans 21, Packers 10
Time and Channel: 8:30 PM ET, Local
We could get an extended look at 49ers’ rookie Trey Lance in this game. If the plan is for Jimmy Garoppolo to start the season, then this is a valuable chance to get Lance experience. Unless he is a long way from being ready, his play against the Chiefs’ secondary defensive options should be enough for the 49ers to win fairly comfortably. There could also be an element of Super Bowl revenge for San Francisco here.
NFL Preseason Week 1 Picks and Predictions: 49ers 27, Chiefs 14
The first game in front of fans at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas should be a nice moment for the Raiders. That motivation to start well in front of their home fans could be the motivation for them to leave their starters in a little longer. Equally, the Seahawks have little they need to uncover, so they should be looking at their depth options quite quickly.
NFL Preseason Week 1 Picks and Predictions: Raiders 20, Seahawks 10
Time and Channel: 10 PM ET, NFL Network
This is another situation where we will see two teams in front of fans in a new stadium for the first time. The Rams have made it clear that Matthew Stafford will be protected in the preseason, but they’ll also be without John Wolford. That should set up a situation where a Chargers team adapting to a new offensive coordinator have the upper hand.
NFL Preseason Week 1 Picks and Predictions: Chargers 23, Rams 7

Panthers-Colts has the makings of a one-sided game. Indianapolis has been suffering injury issues throughout camp and likely will not want to take any risks with their main players. Meanwhile, Carolina has a new QB under center and a young defense to continue developing.
NFL Preseason Week 1 Picks and Predictions: Panthers 17, Colts 10
