Etruscan cities are fiercely fighting with the growing strength of Rome for their independence, but each acts on its own. The fragmentation of the Etruscans weakens their resistance to external enemies, and in the end they find themselves under the rule of Rome. Powerful Roman culture absorbs the Etruscan world.

Rome is truly an "eternal city", and not only because, having emerged from the darkness of barbarism in the US century. BC, it continues to stand on the banks of the Tiber River in our time. In its more than two thousand years of history, it has gone from a small peasant community to a world power, creating a culture that formed the basis of our civilization. The heroes of Rome, a thousand years after its fall, remained constant companions of a man of European culture. Philosophers and poets, politicians and generals talked with them, argued and refuted, loved and hated like their contemporaries.
And the history of Rome began in the lower reaches of the Tiber River on the Apennine Peninsula. On the left bank of the Tiber there is a chain of hills rising above the swamps. The earliest settlement of the Romans, one of the tribes of the Latins, appeared on the Palatine Hill. With steep slopes, surrounded by swamps, it was a convenient refuge from enemies. A "salt road" passed nearby, along which salt evaporated from sea water was delivered into the interior of Italy. The place was busy and lively. Gradually, around the settlement on the Palatine, the settlements located on the neighboring hills - Esquiline, Quirinale, Celia, Capitolia, Vilinale and Aventina - are united. Therefore, Rome is often called the "city on seven hills."
Later, the Romans created a legend according to which King Romulus was the founder of Rome, and even very accurately calculated the date of this significant event - April 21, 753 BC. They traced the genealogy of the founder of the city to the legendary Trojan hero Aeneas. After the destruction of Troy by the Achaean Greeks, Aeneas, the son of the goddess Aphrodite and the mortal man Anchises, fled from the ruined city and, with the help of the gods, arrived in Italy to King Latinus. The Romans were firmly convinced of their Greek origin.
