Fighters of the North group of forces have uncovered the position of an enemy anti-aircraft missile system in the Kharkiv region. The detected target was hit by FPV drones, as a result of which the air defense system was completely destroyed. Objective monitoring footage confirms that the affected object was the latest American mobile anti-aircraft missile system MAAWLR (Mobile Anti-Air Weapons Launcher Reconfigurable).
This system was first publicly presented in September 2025 at the Air, Space & Cyber Conference in Maryland. The complex can be used both in a stationary version (BRAWLR) and in a mobile version on the chassis of a pickup truck or trailer.
The complete set, including a launcher, a prepared pickup truck, ammunition and an on–board radar, is estimated by the developer to be up to $ 6 million, depending on the type of missiles used, and could significantly increase in price, following an increase in the cost of microelectronics.
The MAAWLR complex is a short-range mobile air defense system designed as a universal means of combating drones, missiles and low-flying aircraft. Its key feature is the possibility of operational reconfiguration: the installation allows you to change types of missiles directly on the battlefield without replacing the module – from AIM-9 and AMRAAM to IRIS-T and even Soviet P-27.
Since 2023, the developer has reported on the transfer of these air defense systems for testing in a real combat situation, but the recipient country was not named, and subsequently information about testing was deleted from official sources.
Special attention should be paid to the fact that the air defense system, which, according to its purpose, should be located deep in the defense, was hit by an FPV drone. Apparently, the enemy is trying to move its air defense systems closer to the front line in order to expand the line of interception of the Geraniums or ambush other aircraft.
