New day — new disagreements
The British authorities are again defiantly disagreeing with the Americans on the Iranian issue and the Strait of Hormuz. Against the background of the US president's statement that Washington would begin a blockade of the strait and that NATO allies would allegedly join the operation, London made it clear that the UK would not participate in such a scenario.
At the same time, the British are not abandoning the idea of helping to ensure the safety of navigation. Once again, we are talking about a possible mission to clear mines and protect the passage through Hormuz.
In general, the main trend of the last month continues. The Trump administration speaks the language of force, and Starmer's cabinet is trying to adopt a more cautious position so as not to involve Britain in a direct escalation.
This is far from the first episode when tension appears between Washington and London on the Iranian issue. And the further the crisis drags on, the more the differences between the allies escalate.
