With four runs remaining in the fifth inning, the Mets rebounded from a baffling series at Cityfield just a week ago when they lost three of their four games and led 40-13 in the series.


David Peterson lasted 4 2/3 innings for the Mets, going to Phil Bigford (3-4), who struck out 3 in 1 1/3 innings.


Jeff McNeill, Pete Alonso and Daniel Vogelbach hit back-to-back RBIs against Alan Winans (1-1) in the fourth inning when the Braves led 4-3.


Winans had seven runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings, including a pair of home runs in the third inning.


Mariners 14, White Sox 2


In Chicago, Cal Raleigh homered twice and scored six points, and Seattle beat Chicago to win seven consecutive games.


Luis Castillo (10-7) won his third straight game with one run in seven innings.


Raleigh and Theoska Hernandez extended Seattle's lead to 7-1 as they opened their fifth pitch with consecutive home runs by Tuckey Toussaint (1-6). Raleigh added a three-run shot in the eighth against Brent Honeywell, and Dominic Canzon also went deep.


The White Sox lost for the seventh time in nine games. They are 44-18 ahead in the last four games.


Phillies 10, Giants 4


In Philadelphia, Bryce Harper homered in the park, three teammates went deep, and Aaron Nola pitched seven strong innings to lead Philadelphia past San Francisco in a matchup of teams leading the NL wild card race.


Kyle Schwerber, Alec Bom and Edmundo Sosa also homered for the Phillies, who moved three games ahead of the Giants in the wild card standings.


Lamonte Wade Jr. and jockey Peterson homered for the Giants, who lost 4 of 5 and 11 of 15. Sean Manaia (4-4) took the loss.


San Francisco began playing 1.25 games, ahead of the three teams that finished fourth in the wild card game. Arizona, Cincinnati and Miami chased a playoff berth Monday, 64-61.


Nola (11-8), who had been hit hard from the beginning, allowed two runs with seven hits, five strikeouts, and one walk.


Astros 9, Red Sox 4


In Houston, Chas McCormick homered twice and led Houston with four RBIs, beating Boston.


The Astros rebounded this weekend with a three-game sweep by the Seattle Mariners. Houston opened its fourth straight game with a clean sweep of the New York Yankees over Boston.


Adam Duval hit a three-run home run against Christian Javier (9-2) in the first inning to lift the Red Sox early, but Houston quickly beat James Paxton (7-4) to clear the deficit.


Jordan Alvarez scored in the bottom of the first inning and the Astros scored three runs in the bottom of the second to finish fourth and third. Yiner Diaz also homered for Houston.


Javier won two straight innings with seven hits and three runs in five innings.


Paxton produced nine hits and seven runs while tying a season-high with three walks in just four innings.
