Millions around the world are outraged at Pornhub's alleged complicity in child rape and trafficking
SACRAMENTO, Calif. , July 7, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- In the last few days the #Traffickinghub movement's viral short animated video exposing Pornhub for allegedly profiting from the rape and sex trafficking of women and children reached over 25 million views across all social media.
People around the globe have been sharing the video with comments of disgust, horror and outrage as they learn for the first time that children are being raped for profit on the world's largest and most popular porn site. The video highlights multiple examples like the story of a 15 year old girl from Florida who had been missing for a year and was found after 58 videos of her rape and sexual abuse were found being monetized on Pornhub. Or, 14 year old Rose Kalemba who the BBC reported was taken at knifepoint, raped for 12 hours and the videos of her rape and torture uploaded to Pornhub where they remained for months despite her begging for them to be removed. Or, the 118 cases of child sexual abuse and rape that were investigated and confirmed by the Internet Watch Foundation who reported that half of cases were Category A level abuse including penetration and/or sadism. Or, the case of a toddler being sexually exploited on the site found in an investigation by the Sunday Times.
The video also highlights the fact that Pornhub has no system in place to reliably verify the age or the consent of those featured in the over 6 million videos uploaded to the site per year, which enables millions of users to easily upload acts of real sexual violence against both adults and children.
The Traffickinghub petition calling for the site to be shut down and its executives held accountable for the alleged mass rape and sex trafficking has reached over 1.5 million signatures from 192 countries, and the movement has the support of over 300 child protection and anti-trafficking organizations. The movement has also drawn support from professionals in the adult entertainment industry, who released a manifesto and their own petition rejecting Pornhub and its illegal, exploitative practices.
"The world is waking up to the fact that Pornhub is infested with videos of the real rape and sex trafficking of underage victims as well as vulnerable women. There are now millions around the globe boycotting the site and calling for Pornhub to be shut down," said campaign founder Laila Mickelwait .
The video can be watched and shared via Instagram , Twitter , Youtube , and Facebook .
About the Traffickinghub Movement The Traffickinghub campaign is a non-religious, non-partisan effort to hold the largest porn website in the world accountable for enabling and profiting off of the mass sex-trafficking and exploitation of women and minors.

Study: Most Homemade Porn Finds Way Online
Approximately 88 percent of homemade sexual material uploaded online ends up on porn websites, a study by the Internet Watch Foundation has found.
The study found more than 10,000 of the 12,000 sexually explicit videos and images it tracked were copied from an original source and plastered onto public websites. The sexual material in the study was first uploaded privately or anonymously to the Internet, mostly on social networking and webcam sites, and then harvested by so-called "parasite websites." These sites crawl the Internet in search of sexual content, specifically from young people, and in some cases steal passwords or hack accounts to gain access. The IWF found 68 separate "parasites" websites hosting the material it tracked.
"This research gives an unsettling indication of the number of images and videos on the Internet featuring young people performing sexually explicit acts or posing," said Susie Hargreaves, the CEO of IWF, in statement. "It also highlights the problem of control of these images - once an image has been copied onto a parasite website, it will no longer suffice to simply remove the image from the online account."
The "parasite" websites that compile homemade sexual material are in many ways an intersection of two of the largest uses for the Internet: social networking and pornography.
According to Reuters , social networking traffic only recently surpassed that of pornography. An examination of pornography websites by tech website Extreme Tech found that the traffic to the largest porn sites "dwarf almost everything except the Googles and Facebooks of the Internet." The largest site, it found, generates 4.4 billion page views per month, twice as much as social giant Reddit. It estimated that porn accounts for 30 percent of the total data transferred on the Internet.

Security cameras in Singapore homes have been hacked, with the footage stolen and shared online.
Clips from the hacked footage have been uploaded on pornographic sites recently, with several explicitly tagged as being from Singapore.
The videos, which can last from under a minute to more than 20 minutes, feature couples, breastfeeding mothers and even children.
Most of them are in various states of undress or compromising positions.
Many faces can be clearly seen in locations such as the living room and bedrooms. Some are seen using the toilet with the door ajar.
In one video, time-stamped March 2020, a teenage girl can be seen in a white T-shirt and panties with school books around her. One of them is an O-level Ten-Year Series book used by students preparing for the exam.
In many videos tagged as being from Singapore, the homes have layouts typical of a Housing Board flat.
The footage appears to be from Internet Protocol (IP) cameras that are common in homes here. They are installed for security purposes or to remotely monitor children, the elderly, domestic workers and pets.
A closer check of the videos revealed that a group dedicated to hacking IP cameras was behind the hacking.
The group, which can be found on social messaging platform Discord, has almost 1,000 members across the globe.
As of Saturday, it has claimed to have shared more than 3TB of clips with over 70 members who paid a subscription fee of US$150 (S$203) for lifetime access.
The victims appear to be from various countries, including Thailand, South Korea and Canada. A 700MB "sample", containing about 4,000 videos and pictures from the hacked footage, is provided free.
A significant portion of the clips seemed to be from IP cameras in Singapore.
The group claims to have a list of more than 50,000 hacked cameras that members can access. It also claims that VIP members will be taught how to "explore, watch live and even record" hacked cameras through tutorials and personalised sessions.
Mr Clement Lee, the solution architect for Asia-Pacific for Check Point Software Technologies, said many IP cameras are at ri
